We are looking to book for cyprus this year, 2 adults and 3 kids, the oldest being 8.
Looking for self catering, two bed apartment( 1 bed if needs be), around 10 mins walk to bars and restaraunts (family friendly bars), also a sandy beach near by would be great, something for kids at night.
Either going to Paphos or Protaras, which area would people recomend?
At the moment we've shortlisted the following.
Paphos, Avanti hotel, Aliathon village, paphos gardens(looks abit tacky!!) or mayfair.
Protaras, Hotel papanonia or sandra aprtments.
I've been looking for a while now and can't make my mind up, most places either too far from beach or other bars, making my head hurt now!!!
Please help or we will end up in Scarbourough this year!!!
It s hard for me to pick somewhere without having a good idea of the areas in question. We don't want to be too far from a good selection of bars and restaurants.
The Avanti Hotel has a self catering complex called the Avanti Village completed I think in 2005. It is a modern complex and I have seen some good reviews for it. It is about a 5/10 minute walk to an area called the "triangle" where there are a number of restaurants and a few bars. The Aliathon is also not too far away from here too, but last year when I stayed across the road from here, there was building work going on, so am not sure if it is complete.
The Mayfair I think has some bad reviews for the area where it is situated. With regards to the Paphos Gardens, that is much nearer to the town and obviously bars and restaurants, but unfortunately I cant tell you what they are like.
If it's beches that you want for the children, then Paphos imo is not the place to be.
Protaras is regularly sold by travel agents as a good family place to visit.

We are looking to go around the 3rd week in June, How far from ayia napa is it? Would Protaras be full of chavs around this time ?
we went to paphos last year but we are of to protaras this year as the children wanted a beach holiday this year.
We are staying at The Andreotis Apartment which are not too far away from fig tree bay. They also have a childrens club. Also not to far to the strip.
We are also going at the end of june, i think im right in saying that they only have one, two bed apartment. We booked with thomas cook. Hope this was of same help.
I have to say I have never found Protaras to be full of chavs at any time - it's a great resort with lots for everyone.
hi , i can definitely vouch for protaras as my kids love it, (as well as mum and dad ) we are booked into the sandra apartments and they are within a stones throw of fig tree beach. you also have numerous family friendly bars all around you on the strip. a short bus trip will take you to a brilliant waterpark in aiya napa plus theres a few fairground/ mini golf type places all within walking distance. i don't think you can go wrong in this resort
Also have a look at the Lantiana in Protaras great location, 2 mins from fig tree bay, i have stayed here on many occasions, Airtours do them, take a look at the reviews.
We stayed in the Andreotis Apts last July.... we stayed in the ONLY 2 Bed Apartment....... but if youtre looking to book for this year, I would imagine the 2 Bed Apartment would be booked .by the way oliday.it was FAB!We are staying at The Andreotis Apartment which are not too far away from fig tree bay. They also have a childrens club. Also not to far to the strip.
Thanks for the info everyone, does anybody have a website or email to contact the Andreotis Apartment directly?
.. well I cant say ive ever come across a website or Email for the Andreotis Apts, but they are owned by Thomas Cook (booked through the Sunset brochure) so maybe you could ring Thomas Cook, or get a Sunset brochure to see if they do, indeed, have one
Cant find an email address for them but their fax and phone number are as follows:
There is only 1 2bed apt but we had a 1 bed in the main block and it was huge! Although I am not sure if they are all as big!
andretis in protaras -good choice-
You should also look at Marlita Beach in Pernera.Although the beach is a small man made cove it is ideal for the kids, very shallow. It is a family orientated complex with a very active kids club. It's very close to the bars and restaurants of Pernera and should you want a livlier night out it's only a short taxi ride into Protaras.
