BH there at the moment - it rained for a while yesterday - followed by a sandstorm, so everywhere plastered in soggy sand!! Very windy too.

Hi folks, I'm off the hughada in March. Going to a place called Hor Palace, any info on resort and hotel would be much welcome

HI Maddog,
The Hor Palace is on a road lined with tourist shops, restaurants and bars. The Hard Rock Cafe is just a few minutes walk away (turn right out of the hotel and over the road). A little bit further on are the Grand and Grand Resort Hotels where you will find the Grand Mall. This consists of shops (including good pharmacy), bars and restaurants and an entertainment area which has a cabaret singer followed by a show each evening. There is also a night club called the Jungle Club.

The hotel is only a few minutes away from the airport and there are frequent buses/taxis into Sekalla and downtown Hurghada.

Am going back to Hurghada next week (fourth time since March 2005) so if you have any specific queries do let me know and I'll do my best to find out for you.
Regards, Caro

Hor Palace 3*. As Caro says in a good location for some really good restaurants. Also has a small beach.

Hi Caro, thanks for the info, have you actually stayed in Hor Palace? If you have can you tell me what it is like, I've heard mixed reviews

Hi, Sorry have not actually stayed there or even been inside - have only passed it. I have read some reviews and agree they are mixed. Think the hotel caters mainly for the Russisan tourist - if so you may get better service being English, especially if you smile and are courteous to staff. Russians have a reputation for rudeness (allegedly!).

Are you staying on a half board basis? If the food is poor the Hard Rock serves very cheap food and there are pizzerias and small restaurants nearby. There are also some good restaurants in the Grand Mall.
Regards
Caro

Another couple of tips.
Take your own drinks etc with you, the prices are TWICE that of the uk inside the duty free area! Take some toilet paper as well, they charge for it and the loo's are filthy (you'll need extra to cover the seat and bowl).
Make sure your case is locked, ours were ransacked (20/2/07) luckily the one that was done didnt contain anything of value!
