Hi Loz,

My fiance and I are in the same situation, and here's what I've found. (I've given the 2007 prices, so if it is later it may go up)

We are going to book to stay in the Hotel Grand Ambasciatori, which looks lovely and has it's own private man-made beach via lift. We are going to get married in Oct 2008, so the price then will be about £2400 for the both of us to stay there for 2 weeks. (A week for the guess is approx. £700 each for a week) It's half-board btw.

The marriage itself will take place either at the Cloisters (£629) or Villa Fondi, Piano di Sorrento (£729).

We'll then be having a sit down meal at O'Parracchianos. The cost this year is 54 euros for a 3 course, or 64 euros for a 4 course. I can PM you the menu I was sent if you like.

In the evening we are going to The Foreigners Club (Circulo dei Forestieri in Italian), which apparently has a magnificent view over the bay of Naples. They are apparently very helpful and are willing to section off a part of their large terrace for the sole use of the wedding party. We will be having 2 drinks of wine or 1 of spumante (like champagne) per person, and canapes for £8/pp. They also have live music on at 9pm every night.

Hope this helps somewhat, if you need any more info, feel free to PM me.

Hi Louise12
The Ambasciatori is a lovely hotel. You have made a good choice for your honeymoon.
It does not have a man made beach but wooden decking like a pier.
Lots of loungers(5 euros a day) and deckchairs which are free and more comfortable than the loungers.
Loz.
You will find lots of information on all things weddingy on Tripadvisor Sorrento forum.
Best Wishes to you both.

I too am going to Italy for a friends wedding in June. I am helping her organise it. Sorrento expensive as my friend is paying €120 per person for not a particularly great meal. But the hotel more than makes up for this. Its not a cheap wedding but a fantastic one all the same
Heres the advice I ve learnt so far.
1. Book soon is my advice as people book these hotels sometimes 2 or 3 years in advance.
2. Sort out the flights as they book out fast to Naples.
We are going through Rome because Aer lingus discovered there was huge demand for these flights from Dublin and upped the price from €250 return to €550 return in the space of 1 day. Needless to say we were furious about this but we should have booked sooner. But it worked out alright as this way for €250 with Ryanair we get to spend 2 days in Rome. :) But if you only want to stay in Sorrento book early as once airlines realise there is a demand the price shoots up.
3. It might be an idea to try and book every one on the same flight. Do not let anyone leave it to the last minute.
I ve never been to Italy except as a child. I am really looking forward to it. We are staying a week in Sorrento and 2 days in Rome.
