Could anyone tell me if it is much trouble going into Hirasonu at night time? We are staying at the Karbel Hotel in Olu. How much would it cost? How long does it take? Is it difficult to get home late at night? Just thought I might be a nice change whilst we are there.
Sorry for all the question! Any info appreciated - 1st time in Turkey, and very excited already - it'll kill me waiting til August!
I don't think it will be much trouble at all
Dolmus run frequently at about a pound each way. Taxis would be around £6 each way. Not sure what times the dolmus stop or what you mean by late. Taxi at around 11pm from Kaya Koy was a tenner. If you want a real change I recommend Kaya Koy (ghost village) A few nice traditional bars and restaurants including Cin Bal which is a BBQ - you choose your food and then they bring a barbie and you cook it yourself at your table - not so good for veggies mind (my daughter was ok grilling veg on her seperate barbie )

That sounds fab - thanks, I'll definately give that a try
Turkey is great and I am sure you will love Olu
well what a good choice the karbel group of hotels are quite nice and are very local to all the shops and beaches in olu
dolmus runs about every 10 mins into hisaronu and kaya also fethiye
trips worth doing are saklikent the gorge with tolos and yaka park on the same trip should be no more than a about 12 quid each with lunch
the eight and twelve island boat trips is also worth doing but shop around prices can vary
market day is mondays in hisaronu and tuesday in fethiye it is also worth going to the fish market in the old town choose your fish and have one of the little restaurants cook it for you its great
any more info please use my web site loads on there
What are the best bars in Hisaronu? Are there any bars that do entertainment, e.g. karaoke, drag acts, live music?
What are the best restaraunts? (I like Turkish food)
thanks for any replies, Sandra
yes there are plenty of karaoke bars time out etc
talk of the town has a really good drag act and all bars have some sort of theme hisaronu has a really large selection of bars and a few clubs
restaurants there are a few that do real turkish food like the big brother resturant but i would say fethiye just out side the main town is best for traditional turkish food
but check my web site for links to hisaronu on line
and try hisaronu night life as well
any more info please contact me through my web site
regards
john
I enjoyed evening sitting on Olu Deniz beach at the Buzz Bar (think thats what it was called anyway, my memory is not to good). Also Sugar Beach on the other side of the lagoon was nice place to hang out.
Highlights for me were; Dalayan river trip, Fethiye market, Kaya Koy, Jeep Safari (totally crazy), seeing hubby paraglide. My favourite places for eating in Olu Deniz were The Turkish Pizza (for lunch), The Pirates (now Pine Tree i believe) and Captain Hooks. But Fethiye was the place for doing it eating as Maverick says.
The best bit of Turkey was by far its people.
I spent two weeks there and have felt homesick for the place ever since. Truly you are going to have a great time.
i would recommend for you robin hood in hisaronu for turkish meals !
I'd definitely recommend a 1 hour driv to the top of Babadag. You will be back in 20 minutes if you paraglide down. You won't want to come back down by truck!
You are certainly keen to promote this place stu art..
could also recommend the Talk of the Town show in Hisaronu we went twice we could also recommend the world restruant in Hisaronu.
tom
so go and enjoy
It takes about 10 minutes from Olu Deniz to Hisaronu on the dolmus and will cost you about 2 lira each way. They run aprox every 10 minutes starting at the end of the road near the Belcekiz Beach in Olu Deniz and anywhere on the main drag in Hisaronu. They run until midnight. Taxis are a good option if you want to stay out later and are sharing with a few mates.
Thanks to everyone for the info - its much appreciated! Can't wait
