My partner and i are wanting to holiday this September with our three year old daughter.
We've not had a holiday for 7 years (i know)
We've looked at Halkidiki, Rhodes and Zante. What hotels / apartments would you recommend??
We'd like to be near a beach (preferably sandy), just a nice clean friendly apartment with a pool, in a quietish area in strolling distance of excellent restaurants etc. (ie not near a busy road or in a resort centre).
We're looking at hiring a car to explore, find nice beaches, restaurants, historical sites, water parks etc.
Any help....? Thanks
Another island to consider is Santorini, Smaragdi Village in Perissa, through Kosmar. It is located in a quiet area and 100 yards from the beach. As with Grapevines, it is exactly what you are asking/looking for. All the best in your search.
Les.
Hi SpicyShiraz. We have booked for Alykanas Beach (or is it Village ). We booked it through Kosmar. It looks really nice. Have a look see what you think. Gx
Yet another island to consider i'm afraid! Why not take a look at Koukanaries and Troulos on Skiathos. Gorgeous sandy beaches on your doorstep and great restaurants too. Neither resort very busy in September, in fact they are not your usual type of resort at all. They are peaceful and laid back. We are returning to Skiathos for our 4th visit in September and are staying in koukanaries......heaven!
PargaLuvva - we cannot get in those, already tried and they are fully booked!!
EDIT - Certainly is available for the first 2 weeks in september for 2 adults and child, I've just checked and is priced at £1,298
Just looked at it now and you are right.
But i've just booked Pefkos(Rhodes) Matina Apartments, through Direct Holidays and i cannot wait.
The Thomson and Kosmar properties are different I believe. I think up until last year it was Airtours/Mytravel but now it's Thomsons Superfamily . Gx
I like your choice of wine!
We visited Pefkos in September about 3 years ago with Direct. We really enjoyed it. You are very close to the beach in Matina. It looked nice but we stayed further out at Finas.
Anyway you can catch the local bus in the village to Lindos or right in to Rhodes Town. We find driving in to the large towns a bit daunting so went on the bus. Lindos is only about €3 in a taxi. There are some fantastic tavernas. If you want to go round the acropolis go early before all the tourist buses.
We hired a car for a couple of days and went down to the bottom of the island and also to the gorgeous Tsambikos beach. The roads are in good condition and not much traffic. Nearby Lardos has a traditional feel.
Enjoy your hols. I am sure you will.
Yiamass, Jean
Haven't stayed in the Matina but they are very close to the lovely beach which is perfect for kids and just a few minutes walk off the main street. There are lots of really good restaurants ie. Enigma, Terpsis and Philosophers ( with great views/sunsets). We used Marathon car hire to get about and see a few places and they were cheap and reliable. Worth going to Lindos, Rhodes Town and down to the bottom of the island. I'm sure you'll have a great holiday there.
