Hi,
Calan Blanes is a great choice, that's the part of the island we love to visit (along with Calan Bosch). our favourite restaurant there has always been Haitis as the kids love it, the food choice is great for everyone but they do a great choice for kids in a happy meal style box and the waiters make a real fuss of the kids. You can't miss it as it's right on the corner of the main roundabout in the resort. We also like Biancos which is opposite haitis as they do mexican food in there and its delicious!
For things to do we tend to spend a lot of time at Calan Blanes beach which is lovely, and snorkelling in the nearby coves which have platforms to sunbathe on. The kids also love the water park in the resort and going on the mini train, we usally hire a car for at least half of the saty so we can go out and about, Ciutadella is gorgeous, really pretty and historical and only about 10 mins drive. If you have a car its worth trying to get directions to some of the virgin beaches, we've been to them but wouldn't know how to explain the route! they're well worth a visit though.
You don't say if you are staying in a hotel or in a villa, we used to stay in hotel/apartments then found some great private villas and found we could still use the hotel facilities in the evening, the kids love the mini disco's and shows at the Oasis Park and as long as you are buying your drinks at the bar most hotels seem happy for you to enjoy their entertainment so we get the best of both worlds now as we have the private pool and seclusion if we want it but can still join in with the hustle and bustle when we feel the need! anyway, hope you have a great time, let us know how it goes.

Driving is really easy in menorca and it is almost impossible to get lost as there is only 1 main road Definate place to visit would be Cuitadella 10 mins from calan blanes, calan bosch marina is pretty. It is well worth going to the top of monte toro as you can see the whole island from this viewpoint and it is a beautiful place as well. Cala Galdana is Stunning. and Mahon the Capital is well worth a visit too.

I agree driving in Menorca is so easy and you can't get lost, everything leads off the one major road.
Cala Galdana is nice and has a nice beach and a few shops and bars, Cuitadella is a must it has a harbour and a Cathederal and lots of little streets to explore. It looks so different at night and there is a market on Saturday morning.
Cala n Bosch has a samll harbour and there is a small water park for little ones and a mini arcade type place with bowling and basket ball games.
Cala n Blanes is ideal for kids, lots to keep them entertained while you sit and relax, there are bouncy castles, little rides and the staff everywhere love kids. They cater for kids in a big way and they always get a lolly when you pay the bill. Make sure you walk right to the top into Cala n forcat just a short walk along the street for the restaraunts and bars.
you will find lots of choice and they all have kids menus too.
The weather should not be too bad, it is not that windy but may feel chilly at night in May. I am sure you will have a great time :D

Dawn :D
