What is the deal with putting digital memory cards through security (I'm talking about xD and SD cards) for my camera and camcorder.
Is there any damage done to the cards....
Helen
I usually have a loaded camera in my carry-on, with other cards in a carry case in the checked baggage (just in case!), but I can't say I've had any problems at all.
There won't be a problem as long as you put them through the security X-ray machine but there might be if you absent-mindedly carried them through the 'archway' in your pocket because there is a chance that they could be affected by the strong magnetic field you'll be walking through. This could potentially affect the data strip on the back of your 'plastic' too so that's why it's not a good idea to forget about your wallet in your back pocket!
Have a read of this on the Luggage thread. As SMa says, you'll not have a problem. Digital media isn't effected like film is.
