The fastest train (0706am) takes just under three hours to get to Lisbon; buses take between 3 and 4 hours.
Bus and train one-way is between €18 and €24 ish; ie dirt cheap compared with UK.
A day trip is possible but it's a long ol' day! The best bit was sitting in the train on the way back, numerous beers with friends and seeing the countryside go by.
Can't do that (drink I mean) on a bus.
Thanks for your help. Husband Celtic fan and wants to see where they won the cup!
I'm in Lisbon at the moment and it is worth it. C'mon the Hoops
