According to the BGMaps route planner, it's just under 71 kilometres from Golden Sands to Nova Shipka.

Taxi cost? 'Real' Bulgarian price would be under 70 Leva but, as tourists, you will have to negotiate hard to get anywhere near that price from resort taxi drivers.

Many thanks Baldur for the prompt reply, hopefully with it being so early in the season someone will be tempted. I remember about 7 years ago we had a taxi from Sunny Beach all the way to Golden Sands to have alook at the resort he stayed with us all day and was superb he also took us to see the dolphins and took us to a aquarian place and also to a open fair because we'd got 2 young lads, as I say he was great and everytime he saw us back in Sunny Beach he would pull alongside us and ask if we wanted a lift locally free of charge, he wanted £20 for the trip and we gave him £30 and he was so grateful, mind you the driving to Varna was something else to which I will never forget.

Hopefully you'll find another equally helpful soul in Golden Sands this time.

Is there any resort taxi drivers out there, want to go between 18th - 21st May? Just the 2 of us.

Had the trip to Nova Shipka to my brother in law and family and thanks to Baldur got the trip at a reasonable price, first couple of taxis wanted £50 & £60 the next taxi we asked I told him what you had said on the forum and he agreed to take us for £30 and he picked us up at the hotel at the said time and dropped us off at the door of my brother in law (after getting lost a couple of times), which was on top of a hill on a very poor path, I would never have gone up it in my car but our driver never hesitated he was great, we used him again to take us into Varna and gave us his phone number and came and collected us again for a very reasonable 40 leva, we gave him an extra 25 leva as a big thank you. We stopped overnight with our very shocked friends, it is a very small village but so peaceful and the view from their property was something else, they took us to the next village for a couple of drinks each and some mish mash and for the 7 of us the bill came to 33 leva.
