To go on 2 seperate days we would visit 2 carpet factorys and I do believe they are very long days. Pammukale is not as good as it was a few years back as you cannot walk or bathe in the pools anymore (someone correct me if this has changed)
Hope I have helped in some way
Hi we done the trip in one day a few years back and had plenty of time to have a good look around the cotton castle, the ruins have a meal and the swim in cleopatras pool, its a lond journey yes but you are being driven so you can have a sleep in the coach, which are usually air conditioned. You must visit this place as its a fantastic sight.
We did the trip stayed overnight in a 5 star hotel, meal icluded and belly dance show, well worth the money, think we only paid about £60 each but was a few years ago .Stopped off on the way for breakfast, not included in price and also at a lokanta for tea, gorgeous food. I personally think overnight stay was best idea gives you time to recoup for the next part of the journey, you will love it. Take sunhat for Ephesus and plenty of water
We have thought about doing the trip but it looks like ideally you need to take an overnight stay, and thats not so appealing Mind you I suppose its not something to do every year so perhaps a 1 off trip may be worth it as it is supposed to be worth it.
We did the Pammukale (sorry can't remember spelling) trip in 1 day but it was really long. We were picked up around 7am. Stopped somewhere for breakfast. Visited a Turkish carpet factory, then a jewellers had lunch then on to Pammakale. Didn't get back to our hotel till around 9pm. Overnight stay sounds much better
I contacted one of the tour agencies to find out what accomodation they use for the 2 day trip. Its the Grand Sevgi (5*) but I ca't find any reviews written in english but the ones translated from German sound dire - now i know the direct translation can be a bit hit and miss so does anyone have any info?

We hired a car & did Ephesus on our own. We didn't have to leave at 6am or stop at the carpet shops on route.
I think the day cost us about £110 & that includes lunch.
If we had gone by coach it would have been about £23 (I think) each (of course there would have been extras).
Mind you my husband is a cab driver, I don't know if I would want to do that long drive (410 kilometers I think it was, return).
I think Pumakkalle is a lot longer (about 5 hours on the coach, I think).
Thanks you have given me some good info, the 5 star hotel sounds nice if we do the 2 days,I dont really mind the 5 hour journey,we have driven down to Spain many times. You have all been very helpful, sounds a really nice trip, and im looking forward to doing it now.
I like driving abroad - but - just me and 2 kids!! I can hear it now
Are we there yet?
I need a wee!
Mam, tell her to stop it ! and on and on!

What we did last year was to holiday in Kusadasi which is only a short Dolmus ride away from Ephesus. Pammukale is a bit further but you should be able to get a cheap excursion through one of the local tour operators. Saves the hassle of a five hour coach trip !! Les
We stayed ver night at a 5* hotel Ha Ha ( more like a 2*)
But it didn't spoil the trip, it would have been a very long day doing only one from Marmaris.
I'm not into ruins but it was very interesting, make sure you take plenty of water.
The translated reviews I have read re the Grand Sevgi suggest you are kept "hostage", mould in the bathrooms and that you are supplied with a "gentleman under bedder"!
Might just risk it to satisfy curiosity
