Hi Toffeemen

Easter is the very start of the season for Cyprus so you would be better to go to a resort that is open all year round (such as Paphos or Limassol). The majority of the bars & restaurants stay open through the winter and more of them will re-open for Easter.

The likes of Ayia Napa & Protaras are mainly summer only destinations and they will only just be starting to get into gear for Easter.

Easter in Cyprus is usually at a different time than UK Easter too as the churches here follow the Greek Orthodox calender. As a rule, it's later than UK Easter and only generally falls at the same time every 4 years or so. This year the dates were pretty much in line with the UK holiday, so I believe it will be later again next year.

Thanks Cyprus100 ,
Have you any suggestions as to where to look for good deals - is there a specialist or are the T/Agents much the same ?.

I usualy do DIY to Turkey but am a bit unsure of the areas to look for this time of year.

Cheers

Hi Toffemen

Paphos is a good place to stay around Easter.

The sea is not too warm this time of year - well depending on your tolernace.

We spent this Easter in Paphos, had lovely weather (English Summer) early 20's.

There is plenty to do around the area from the historical places of interest to the local distractions such as karting, paintballing, horse riding etc.

The Troodos Mountains are only a 1 Hour drive away.

Kato Paphos is Central, close to the Harbour.

Universal Area is 1 mile NE from the Harbour

Tombs of the Kings Road 1 mile N from Harbour

Coral Bay 8 Miles N from Harbour

Hope this helps

Hi Toffeemen,

That's a tough question as Easter is notoriously expensive as it's the first "real" holiday for schools following the Christmas & New Year break.

It all depends on what you are looking for and how many of you are travelling together.

Generally, if you are travelling as a couple - it's often cheaper to book into a hotel on BB basis (although, the Atlantica Hotel in Limassol - now Atlantica Oasis usually fare cheaper to book HB than BB) rather than go self catering because of the under-occupancy supplements charged.

For Paphos, I would suggest the Kissos Hotel - it's a nice hotel situated just off Tombs of the Kings road and in a good position for local bars and restaurants. Also within walking distance to the harbour.

If you are travelling as a family - then Kefalos Beach apts, Anemi apts or Aliathon Village apts are all nice, clean complexes.

If you want to go upmarket - then Elysium Hotel is the newest hotel I recall in Paphos and I cannot fault the Mediterranean Beach hotel in Limassol. Four Seasons is up there with the rest but the Med Beach holds it for me as it has more of a holiday feel to it.

I've found Portland Holidays (direct part of Thomson) and Eclipse Direct (direct part of First Choice) are usually competitively priced.

But, if you book with British Airways during their winter sale for flight only (usually Dec or Jan), then try accommodation only bookings with Thomson, Olympic Holiday, Travel Republic or HotelClub.net

Hope that helps some!
