A photo licence is usual good enough [but remember to take your paper part as well] for local car hire

My hubby only has a paper license and has never had a problem with it. In fact we book with Merlis car hire in Kalamaki, she leaves the car at the airport with our name and the keys and then when we've arrived, unpacked and sorted ourselves out we go along to the office and sort the paper work and payment out, no deposit is taken, they are very laid back. Just make sure that you have the proper insurance.

Hi oneilly..

The DVLA's IDP information website isn't much help.. .

The AA has a better site The AA IDP info for each country

If you are worried that information isn't clear or current due to web pages not being dated then give the AA a call..

The AA site also gives very good driving information for each country and it's worth having a look over the Greek driving rules as they have many different speed limits for vehicles an it gives info on what you should have supplied in your hire car..
