We have just got back from Sol Y Mar sharks bay and I have to agree with everyone, what an amazing hotel!
From the moment we arrived the staff were as friendly and efficient as everyone says. We stayed on the top floor, which was very clean, great view of the desert from the entrance and the pool at the rear with balcony. A big shout out goes to our cleaner, Big Mo (Mohammed) who was unbelievably helpful during our stay
The bar staff were second to none! They do anything for you, including bringing your drinks to a table 5 yards from the bar! A big shout goes out to Saad and Sobhy. They were just brilliant! From not needing to ask for a drink when in the bars or around the pool, to knowing what and when we wanted a drink was amazing! Always smiling and happy, even with the very long hours that they work!
The restaurant staff, were also very helpful and consistent. The only thing with our week was that they could have done with an extra waiter, mainly to provide the drinks, as some times it took a while to get a drink due to how busy they all were showing diners to tables / clearing & setting up tables & making sure everyone’s meal was to their satisfaction. The food was brilliant for an all-inclusive holiday and have no complaints at all. The food at the pool bar (snack menu) was also good. We ate there most days as the restaurant food was more of a meal at lunch.
The animation team were brilliant! The daily wakening call to Boomba, I will never forget! They always entertained throughout the day with activities to suit all. The only thing I would say is that they need to change their daily CD more often! It did get a bit repetitive. The evening entertainment was good & varied, with some nights better than others. If it’s not your cup of tea, then a taxi into Soho Square or Naama Bay is available almost immediately from the hotel reception.

We stayed in this hotel for a week in June and were very VERY happy.
HOTEL: The hotel itself was spotless. The rooms were just as pictured on the website and super modern. The pool was lovely, not too deep and just the right temperature to cool off in. There were always sunbeds and lots of shade available.
FOOD: Mass catering in holiday resorts in my experience is never amazing, but you'll never go hungry. The same can be said for the Sol Y Mar Sharks bay, there was plenty of choice from fried to healthy food and lots of salads. We could always find something to eat, but it would get repetitive after 2 weeks i feel. With the All Inclusive package breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and snacks were included. The pool bar snacks included burgers chips and pizza and were always great.
DRINKS: The drinks ran from 9am-midnight which is excellent. In the evening at the main bar they were certainly not stingy with measures and we never had a dry glass. The only let down was the tiny plastic cups given out at the pool bar during the day. We did become quite dehydrated due to the small quantities we were able to carry back to the sunbeds! There are water dispensers around the resort that are ok to use, but half litre bottled water costs around $2 or 20LE extra.
LOCATION: The location was perfect for us, nice and quiet. However it was only around a 7minute taxi ride from Soho Square (the nicer night time hotspot of Sharm) However it is possible to get a taxi to Narma Bar if desired. The hotel taxis were very reasonable, and safe. There was also a free shuttle bus to the sister hotel and the beach (where you could use their AI services - soft drinks). We found that hotel to be a lot rowdier but good for a morning to see the beach.
STAFF: Incredible. Anything you wanted, you got it. All the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. We tipped one of the bar staff after particularly good service one night and for the rest of the week we practically had our own personal waiter.
ENTERTAINMENT: Honestly the worst animation team ive come across in a resort before! The animation team here would be better suited to hotels in Ibiza or Narma Bay. Be warned if you are talked into taking part in a 'Best Couple' competition. The games were atrocious and completely un-suitable for the older generation in the hotel (or those with taste). The only upside was if you told them you didn't want to take part they didn't pressure you for the rest of the week to join in.
Apart from the poor entertainment (which could be avoided by sitting inside on the sofas by the bar) it was one of the best holidays we have been on and would definitely visit again.
Make sure you take lots of sunscreen, and tip tip tip! :D

My husband and I visited this hotel in April this year and I can honestly say it was the most relaxing holiday we've ever had!
The hotel was immaculate and exactly how it looked on the website, the staff were excellent and the food was great we will defiantly be booking up again this year, and we can't wait!
