This was our third visit to Bueno, my hubbie myself and our 8yr old son Harry. Every time we visit Bueno we love it, it’s like our own personal villa with staff!! The room we have is directly behind the outside bar(run by George).
We ask for the same room every year because it’s a nice size and is always shaded so it doesn’t get too hot- especially as it was 32degrees in June. We have air-con which is 90euro for two weeks it’s nice to come from a day in the sun to a chilled out room. The hotel is spotless its run with military precision by Mrs Johanna who owns the hotel, Elsa runs the reception and nothing is too much for her, changing money booking taxis giving advice. George is Johannes son and he runs the bar he is always around, day and night to help in any way.
We don’t eat in the hotel because there are loads of great restaurants just up the road 100yards away.
The pool is very clean, most days we had the pool to ourself, so it was quiet and peaceful. Sometimes the local kids, who’s mums work at the hotel, use the pool. They can be a bit boisterous but they only stay for an hour or so and they can understand you if you say "stop it or behave" Everything you need is within walking distance of the Bueno so it’s perfectly located.
It really is a wonderful relaxing base to explore Crete or just a peaceful and picturesque place to relax and unwind.

the Bueno apts are part of a small complex called Motakis Village which is in the town of Platanias which is in turn about 20 mins bus ride fron the old harbour area of rethymno.
Motakis village is basically a quite side street off of the main road that runs down to the beach.
It is very pretty with lot of flowers and a couple of out door bars.
Thare are 3 pools,2 small ones by the hotel and a larger one 100 metres along the street set right on the beach, each pool has its own bar.
Sunbeds are free around the pools but are 6 euros on the beach.
The beach is large but not what i'd call call child friendly in the 2 weeks we were there the red flag was up 10 of the days.
The main platanias road has lots of tavernas catering for most tastes,JJ's pub close to the Motakis turning is a nice family run place that does a lovely sunday roast if your feeling a bit home sick, plenty more tavernas and shops can be found in rethymno which is full of history.
The hotel was clean the staff very helpful we didn't try the breakfast as JJ's did a better one.
Air conditioning and a safe were an extra charge about 90 euros the fortnight.
All in all a nice holiday and it gets a thumbs up .

We stay at this hotel every year, we have some of the best times at this hotel.
The staff are amazing and George (he runs the place) is a great guy, very professional and also makes you feel more than welcome.
We go self catering but the restaurant in the complex is great, they do the best spaghetti bolognese!
The rooms are great and the pools are always clean.
The bar is a laugh and George is always on good form with everyone.
I would recommend this hotel over and over again, we love it and we will return very soon.

My two sisters and I stayed at he Bueno in April 05 we had a studio room which was a bit small for three but we didn't mind.
The staff were lovely and really helpful.
We hadn't booked to have breakfast but the first day went down and they welcomed us and for 3 Euros we had a lovely breakfast fresh eggs etc lots of fresh bread and a proper toaster. yogurt and fresh fruit in abundance. We also joined them for a BBQ night excellent food and some real Greek entertainment from the family who run the hotel.
The beach was a short walk away and was just perfect. The main town is a short bus ride away and is very pretty with lots of nice shops and bars etc.
All in all a super week away would heartily recommend the hotel and the resort.

the hotel itself is lovely although the brochure says three pools it is really just one divided into two at the hotel,
the third is at the bottom of the road and was very busy.
we were also unable to find a football pitch.
rooms were ok - air conditioning costs around 4 euros per night
the showers weren't great and we flooded the whole apartment on more than one occasion as the curtain was too short.
the bar area was lovely with padded chairs and lots of flowers and really nice atmosphere
the road was quiet enough for the children to play out front.
the staff were the nicest and most helpful I have ever come across and I would return for that reason only,
when First Choice cancelled a trip to the water park at very short notice the owner sorted out a really good deal with a local taxi driver to take us up - she also gave us free drinks while we waited.
We are alreadly planning going back next year for longer but not with First Choice.

Crete Is lovely some of the landscapes are astounding you can watch the sunset at night its so nice. These apartments are lovely and so is the complex its just right its not to big and its not to small we were located on the beach the staff are great one of the lads who worked there was English and George who wasnt but he was lovely he showed us to our room when we arrived and sorted everything out. At night the bar was the place to be this was where everyone tended to meet up. Everyone holidaying there was lovely you couldnt of asked for more. I would recomend the island and this hotel to anyone.
