We had an apartment and were disappointed to have an unstable camp bed as the fourth bed ( some apartments did have 2 beds), limited facilities for cooking and we had to ask for the 4th plate, bowl, chair etc. as obviously designed for 3 people.
Pool areas were spotless and there were plenty of loungers at all times.
Location is remote and the rocky cove at the bottom of a very steep hill isn't great. The village of Gerani itself is lovely and there's a couple of very cheap places to eat ( 4 of us ate for 17 euros including drinks!)- it's a dangerous walk in the dark though as there are no pavements and the local whizz up and down.
Entertainment was very poor, especially considering the remote location. Luckily my children ( 9 and 14) made lots of friends as guests tended to stay on site during the evening. There were quite few local greek lads that regularly appeared in the evning to 'sightsee'!
All in all, a very pleasant place to stay if you like to spend time by the pool and relax.
We would consider going back but would definately hire a car and be prepared to eat out all the time as 2 rings are a bit limiting.
Don't expect the Airtours rep to take you to Camari- ours got off in Rethymnon and we arrived on our own and didn't see anyone again until the journey home- apart from the very poor welcome meeting which was a sales talk without even a drink!

There is no beach nearby so we got a taxi (15 euros) to Georgeopolis, which was lovely. You paid 2.5 euros for a sunbed and umbrella, got a free drink and use of the swimming pool across the road all day. Taverna there for food and very reasonable.
The apartments themselves were great, spotlessly clean, ample space for the 3 of us, and a small balcony overlooking the sea and pool. Kitchen area basic but no kettle, you have to boil water in a teapot!! Plenty of wardrobe space, and clean bathroom with shower.
After our first night not sleeping with the heat we paid the 5 euros a night for the air conditioning remote control, but it wasn't very effective. Took ages to cool the room, and was connected to the doors and windows so you couldn't have the patio doors open at the same time. It also was situated behind the door in the bedroom so the lounge area where our daughter was sleeping didn't get cool at all.
The complex had 2 pools and pool bars, although one was closed as it was fairly quiet and a small supermarket. The pool bar served meals and snacks all day, the food was always delicious and reasonably priced. They also had greek dancing on Sundays with professional dancers, which was a great night.
The apartments are family run and they are lovely people, they work so hard to make sure you have a good time. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and well maintained. If they were in a more central location, it would be perfect!!

The family run the small and friendly complex (inc 2 pools and a supermarket) wonderfully. It is so clean, well serviced and insect free almost. They are attentive to your needs, keep you amused, but allow you privacy to relax if you wish. The pool side bar and restaurant has a good menu selection of local and UK favourites, and plenty of beers and wines too.
A car is a boon as the apartments are a couple of miles from Rethymnon - but we were pleased to arrive back after hot trips out to the relaxing and homely surroundings. See www.camarigarden.com/guestlog.htm
