Having been to Lisbon on two weekend breaks and had a look at Cacais/Estoril we thought it would be a nice change from the Algarve for our fortnights holiday so here is the report of the hotel we stayed in.
The Sana Classic Estoril, three star hotel has 97 rooms all with good air conditioning and the rooms at the front of the hotel have large balconies, noon on the back. The rooms are kept spotless with fresh towels every day and bed linen changed 3 times a week. The bathroom was big and clean and there was a mini bar but as in most hotels the prices were a bit on the high side.
I have given the food a 5* even though we were on B&B as the breakfast was very good and they do a evening meal for 15 euros for three courses.
There are a flight of stairs to the foyer a bit hard to get up with your cases if they are as heavy as ours. Very smart entry with a lounge to the left and small bar to the right, some of the staff do not speak English but if you try you can get round this but were always helpful.
We booked a day trip with the hotel and went to Obidos/Alcobaca/Nazare for lunch/Batalha and Fatima and had a great day out.
The hotel sits on the main Lisbon to Cascais road so there is a lot of traffic most of the time but the double glazing kept the noise out of the room.
The swimming pool was on the small side and had a small bar for hot/cold drinks and snacks also there is a indoor pool and gym and under the hotel there is a disco that opens at 11pm and again there was no noise from it.
The bar had a man playing the piano three times a week.
The only let down was there were no umbrellas for the sun beds.
So all in all I would put this hotel on my return again list, it has the feel of a four star about it and well worth a try if you go to this part of Portugal. The train station to Lisbon or Cascais is just down the road as are the bus stops.
