We stayed at the Patio Hotel in January 2008 on a bed and breakfast basis. There was a small queue for check in at 3.15pm. We were allocated a Classic room on the 1st floor. They have a small number of smoking rooms.
The room was the usual size for the UK, quite small, but spotlessly clean and well furnished. There was a kingsize bed, two bedside tables, a small table with a vase of lilies and two chairs. There was a desk/dressing table with mirror above and two small drawers, tea and coffee making facilities and a small TV. There was a hairdryer in the dresser drawer.
There were mirrored wardrobes which contained an iron and ironing board. The window opened to allow fresh air and the sound proofing was good.
The bathroom was small and functional with a shower over the bath, sink and toilet. There were three mirrors over the sink, two at an angle and well lit. Toiletries were bath/shower gel, shampoo, body lotion and soap, no shower cap.
The hotel has a 15m swimming pool, sauna, steam room, gym and Breakers beauty spa which had a wide range of treatments. However I thought they were quite expensive, but to be expected in a four star hotel.
Drinks were expensive at £3.90 for a vodka and lemonade and £2 for a fresh orange juice.
Breakfast is served in the conservatory. There was fresh fruit, cereals, rolls, muffins and croissants. The hot food was bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, potato scones, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans and it was all very fresh and tasty.
