If you want a lively action packed holiday, don't come here - stay in the south west! If you want a pleasant, relaxing time and/or a base from which to explore the rest of the island, you will be fine.

Cala Bona is clean, tidy, and has everything you need for a good family holiday, but I think you would get a bit bored if you intend to spend a full 2 weeks there! Maybe thats just because we don't like staying put! The promenade between Cala Bona and Cala Millor makes for a pleasant walk. We got the bus to Sa Coma one day and walked back from there, through the nature reserve and via the "castle" (a watchtower really). A bit of a hike, but we stopped for a San Miguel once or twice on the way!. Only went to the beach in late afternoon when it was cooler and less busy. For kids, the one in front the Levante, with the Breakwaters seemed to be the best. The others are a bit rocky / seaweedy, unless you go to the large one at Cala Millor.

The resort is predominantly British and German. Night life is quite low key and we were suprised at how empty the streets were at night (on your way home) compared to resorts weve been to which are popular with the Spanish who have their siesta and then head out later.

My top tips for eating out are, for shoreside location as well as good food - the Argos Bar and Chiris.

For cheap drinks - the Happy Hour at Pago Pago Beach Bar (Sur Hotel) 4pm -6pm (2-4-1)

Supermarkets - BIP & SYP Eroski. (Big one in Son Servera if you have a car)

Days out - If you've got kids, get the bus to Sa Coma and go to Paradise Mini Golf. The Safari Zoo is also OK.

But most importantly - If you can, hire a car and see the rest of the island. The roads are good, although the signposting can be a bit hit and miss! Although I've been in Mallorca once before, it was a long time ago, I didn't really appreciate how big it is til we got there. Excursions booked through you rep. will be expensive. Local Buses are great for short journeys, but you will see much more by car. We hired a Corsa with a/c for 30 euros a day from a place near the harbour (near BIP). It was obviously another, bigger company's ex-rental but it met our needs.

Best view on the Island (in my opinion) Santuari de San Salvador, outside Felanitx, on the road to Porto Christo - unless you are a nervous driver - the road up to it is a bit hairy!! The west coast is beautiful and the roads are windy but wide.

We had lovely holiday and if we don't come back, its only because we've got so many other places we want see too!

The resort has a small harbour to the north with the south merging with Cala Millor which is livelier than Cala Bona. The beach is artificial but the beach lovers could walk to the nice one at Millor or get a bus / taxi (5-6 euros) to nearby Sa Coma for an excellent one.
We liked the pleasant seafront bars and shops. There are plenty of hotels mixed in on the seafront, however the Floriana was perfectly situated for us, set back 400 yards in a quieter area full of very expensive looking villas.

The resort was quite clean and tidy with good pavements and walkways. We met a couple with a wheel chair and they were managing quite well as the pavements were wide and mostly had drop down kerbs. There is a good variety of bars and restaurants, kids rides and trampolines etc. The beach is clean but in some places there is quite a lot of shingle and rocks so plastic swimming shoes are probably needed - available in all the shops! We would visit the resort again.

The resort of Cala Bona is very clean with lots of bars/restaurants and the usual array of holiday shops. There is a very nice sandwich shop run by British people and certainly worth a visit.

We didn't see a great deal of the resort entertainment which in the main is bar orientated.

We got around Majorca very well on the public transport which is cheap, clean and punctual.

Cala Bona is ideal for families or the older generation. Plenty of good quality restaurants and places to have a drink. Slightly more expensive than Cala Millor but of a better standard and better surroundings, looking onto the harbour having a nice meal and bottle of wine, does it get any better.

Smithys is worth a vist, as is Janet and Johns. The Rope & Anchor do a lovelly breakfast, and the best Sunday lunch I have had abroad. The resort is very clean.

Found the Cala Millor beach very good and only a 10 min walk. Thinking about going back next year and have no problems reccomending this resort.

Me and my family loved this resort, we were only there for a week and could have done with two.

There is plenty to do and five minutes up the road is the lovely Cala Millor!

The safari zoo trip is worth going on it only cost us about £30 for four of us and children under 3 go free. The trip includes your bus, train and getting in and getting back. The bus stops are easy to find they are everywhere!

I wouldnt really recomend the glass bottom boat, its just a couple of windows at the bottom of the boat and you cant even see anything.

The beach is stunning brilliant for children, small and safe! it is a bit rocky but 5 minutes away is cala millor beach which is lush too.

The resort is quite low key at night , walk into Cala Millor they have a mini funfair, great bars indian shows and much more!

The bar which is a must it "cheers bar" excellent, they have bingo, kareoke, quiz, mini cinema, playstation 2 s and the internet all of this is free to use.

The food here is fantastic all good price and they are frienly funny english people.

Me and my family will definitely be going to Cala Bona again we loved it.

Cala Bona was not what I expected at all. It is a quite a comercialised resort, lots on offer to satisfy most tastes. There are a variety of restaurants, bars and shops.

A short walk along the promonade takes you to Cala Millor, a much busier resort. Nice for an evening stroll along the sea front or relaxing in one of the many beach front cafes.

I wouldn't personally visit the resort again. I found it a little too busy for my taste. However, for a family it did have a great deal to offer.
