We booked a balcony cabin on Carnival Glory out of Port Canaveral visiting Nassau, St Thomas & St Maarten. We paid £400 each from Discount Cruises (US Company) and organised our own flights.
We have sailed with other cruise lines before and found the disembarkation the best we had experienced. Easy parking, well organised check in and bags to your cabin in good time.
The ship is huge ((130K tonnes)and soon swallows up the 3000+ passengers. The cabin was very good, large bed, nice balcony and well equipped shower room.
The food was very good and plentiful. You can eat when and wherever you like.
The entertainment was all based around daily Bingo sessions which meant the best seats for the shows were taken by the Bingo players about 2 hours in advance. If you arrived on time for the show there was nowhere to sit and if you were unlucky enough to sit under the balcony you couldn't see anything above 6 feet above the stage which was no good for the illusionists show.
The other complaint for this cruise was the time at sea - 3 days out of 6 but we new that when we booked but be warned!
The majority of the passengers were 'younger' Americans whose intention was to drink too much and make as much noise enjoying themselves as they could. Much of the entertainment and activities were focused on this younger group. We never even got near the pool or spas as they were always full of 'fawning' young couples.
May be I'm getting too old.
This probably says something about the style of the cruise - more suited & targeted at the younger 'cruiser'.

Me and my wife sailed on the Carnavel Glory in March 07 the ship itself was A1 as we got onto the ship at port canavral it was just class we were givern a 5.45 (when we wanted a 8 pm )dinner sitting which i didnt want all you have to do is ask all the staff will bend over backwards for you.
The food was lovely a little more would have been nice but hey theres a 24 hour pizza place on deck 9.
the entertainment was ok we only saw 2 shows as you would have to get into the hall about a hour early just to get a seat 2 hours if you want a good seat.
But over all this is the second carnavel ship i have been on (pride in 2002 and would do it over and over again superb.

not for uk folks this ship will only look after american and canadians the food is always cold or if your lucky it will be luke warm and if you are going to sail with them request an early sitting for your evening meal as it is freshly cooked then well i think it is!! it is the first cruize i have went on and went hungry! stick to med cruizing far far better, and forget about booking speacial requests on your booking form as the american office will ignore them as they will want more money of you as they know you will pay again, and yes every thing has a catch, from them taking photos to eating cakes it all costs far more than you would think, and if you do complain all of a sudden they dont understand you, no take another cruize, if you are only interested in seeing a fabulus ship yes then see it but dont expect much from within, the captain only speaks twice and he cant even sound the horn on leaving ports, if you have kids they luv that sound, to sum it up american club 18-30 your kids arnt safe in the pools!! as the deck staff are on comission with all drinks

I can understand part of what the previous poster above said. I did not like the sell sell sell attitude of the ship. We went to the debarkation meeting for 1 hour. 5 minutes of useful information 5 minutes of commedy and 50 minutes of selling bags, books, photos, photos and more photos. When debarking for each island they ae selling cold bottles of water sun cream cameras, etc. As you get off there ar more photos taken. On the good side we had no problem with the food, we had the 8.00 late seating for dinner in the upper platinum resteraunt, the food was lovely, a little too much in presentation rather than actual food some times. We had no complaints otherwise.
Our waiter was most helpful, I know he was probably looking for his tip at the end of the week but he was always smiling having a joke with us, and put usright on several questions we had. Breakfast was available in either the Red sea restaurant for buffet style or back to the platinum for sit down served. We tried and enjoyed both. Same at dinner time, where each day there was Deli, for sandwitches loose meat salad. Pizza resteraunt, oriental or Hamburger and Hot dog reesteraunt, Grand Buffet or each day a different theme Indian, mexican, etc. You could not want for any more food, what we had was always hot.
The staff form clesners to cheffs to officers were the most pleasant we have met, always smiling and open to a chat at any time. We were not impressed with the stops, very poor culture and quite intimidating at times, we never paid for any of the expensive excursions so only stayed local. Our rooms were magnificennt.
Enormous bed with plent of space, 3 seater couch, chair, table, unit with mini bar and cupboards and wardrobes. Telly with very useful interactive system showing daily info of the ship and also your running total of what was spent on board, just a word of warning both us and our friends had additiod not bought and had to have them removed.
All in all we had a wonerful week, except for tyhe sell sell sell attitude.

My husband, teenage daughter(17, her friend and myself did the Eastern Caribbean Cruise on 8th July of this year.
We found the Glory to be a lovely ship and deliberately chose this ship (after some research)to suit our teenage daughter and her friend, who both had an absolute ball! Other than having dinner (Platinum Restaurant 8.00pm sitting) we hardly seen them. Our waiter Ovi was excellent in providing advice on what he thought was the best dish of the evening and was always very pleseant and although he was training a new assistant and was rushed off his feet sometimes, we never waited for long periods of time to eat.
Ship cleanliness, staff, amenities etc were all excellent, as was our cabin steward.
We did not take any of the excursions offered by Carnival as my husband and I had cruises with RCL on this itinary the previous year and had knowledge of the ports and places of interest, so we did the exploring, snorkelling, shopping with the girls.
Although they do a lot of selling (water, sunscreen, photos etc, we never at any time felt pressured to buy.
Of course there are more Americans and Candians onboard but again this was not an issue for us and were always made to feel very welcome.
I would recommed this ship to couples with children, and couples with a "young at heart" attitude.
My only complaint would be that it would be better if they could set aside one pool and area (as RCL lines do) for adult only use as it can be loud around the pool areas.

the ship was always clean, the food was better on deck than in the resturant we thought, the staff were very good always passing the time of day., the entertainment was really good. we were a couple on our own and would have loved to have been put on a table with other people to eat but was put on a table for two we asked but were told there were no other seats spare, but other than that we went on excurtions and found them good all in all we enjoyed ourselves and spent a further week in kissemee
