Carnival Triumph

8 of 13 Carnival ships

This is a big impressive ship with extensive tastefully decorated public rooms over three decks. It offers the ultimate playground, but the sheer number of passengers can lead to crowded open deck space. Passengers on the Carnival Triumph tend to be younger and families and mainly American. When all cabins have double occupancy, the ship provides a space ratio of 36.8 tons per passenger and a crew to passenger ratio of one for every 2.4 passengers. At full capacity the space ratio is 29.2 tons per passenger and the crew ratio is one to 3 passengers.

This is our second sailing with Carnival Cruise lines and we where very dissapointed with the quality of the food and the friendliness of the wait staff. We traveled on the Elation in 2002 and where extremely impressed with the food in the buffet and diningroom. For this reason, we selected to cruise Carnival again.

To start off the food was disgusting. The starters, main courses and desserts where basically the same thing everynight. The food was either overcooked or undercooked. The dessert where dried out from sitting out too long and the dessert that had Chocolate in them where much too cocoa (like someone forgot to add sugar to the recipe). One night I had a Lobster Bisque which was brown in color and had the consistency of a gravy. The one morning we did go to the dining room for breakfast my hollandise sauce on the eggs benedict was all dried out and hard (sat under the lights for too long).

We were also extremely disappointed that the menu for the diningroom was the same as the buffet. No imagination went into the presentation. The waitstaff didnt seem to be very knowledgeable on the menu. It is pretty sad to say the best thing I had to eat on the entire cruise was a salad. I hope you take this criticism to heart and do something to improve the quality and type of food that is being served on this particular ship. After this experience, I can truthfully say we will not be recommending or looking at sailings with Carnival until this has improved.

Thank you.

My husband and I travelled on the Truimph with a prior night in Miami. We had a cabin with a balcony which was a good size.Im afraid its spoiled it for us in future because we could always get away and come and sit on our balcony. The ship was very good but not as good as other Carnival ships we have travelled on.The food was excellant and plentiful. If you wanted more it was there before you asked.WE loved it so much we will be doing it again this year.Cruising is definetly for us.On our return to port we stayed in the Shereton Miami Beach again excellant but a long way from resturants and shops.
