hi.to all readers..........we sailed on the century for a ten day med cruise.
this is some ship from the food/staff and cleanliness everything was spot on.the only down side in our opinion was the daily and evening entertainment during the day it appeared to be not much happening or if there was i never found it .and the evening with the exception of three acts the rest where amateurs....
but that didnt spoil a really great cruise .......thanks to all who made it happen for us..the waiters the bar staff. the service nothing was too much trouble for them ........and i must not forget the stateroom attendants fantastic......
cant wait to go on this ship again.....regards..john-doe.....

My wife and I sailed on the Century from Amsterdam to the North Cape and Artic Circle. This was the second time in 3 years that we have sailed with this ship and the re-fit appears to have been a success. With regards to the food, we found it on the whole to be very good, our only complaint was that occasionally the main course at dinner wasn't as good as 2 years ago. We found the staff to be very friendly and like all cruise ships they are multi-national. When speaking with a couple who we met in Bergen who were on the Thomson Spirit it was a bit of a shock to find that their shuttle buses were free at each Port, where we had to pay 8 Dollars each. I feel that this should be free considering how much we paid for the cruise in the first place. Although I have had a couple of moans, I would not hesitate to recommend it and I would be happy to cruise with Celebrity again.

From the welcome mimosas on embarkation to the hot chocolate on return from ports, we felt very cared for on our Norwegian Fjord trip on Celebrity Century.
Embarkation was fast and simple, and before long we were in Cabin 9128.
We enjoyed the Concierge Class extras including Cova chocolates and chilled champagne on arrival, fresh fruit and flowers and binoculars to take in the fjords from the balcony.
Our attendant Rosa attended to us expertly, arranging for a special bottle of ours to be taken to our dinner table.
We had great waiters and good company sharing table 557 at the foot of the Grand restaurant’s imposing staircase for our evening meals. Charles and Eman remembered all our preferences and entertained us all week. Napkin folding reached new heights with Charles’ Statue of Liberty!
I liked the range of made to order choice on Century, especially the Island Cafe's pancakes (try the fresh waffles with orange butter and cinnamon sugar). The sushi bar and the Aqua Spa café added new temptations.
The £15 reservation fee for Murano’s restaurant buys you entrance to a temple to Michel Roux gastronomy, including goat’s cheese soufflé, rack of lamb and Grand Marnier soufflé.
The Martini icebar was great fun and the tasting selection ranged from the James Bond classic to appletini and mango.
All the Norwegian ports were wonderful – Oslo with its museums, the Flam railway, the old town in Stavanger and Lysefjord trip. Bergen is lovely, with the funicular trip up the mountain offering great views. We didn’t look round pretty Alesund as we were on the Geirangerfjord excursion, but they had a youth band and a water cannon send off for us – a nice touch.
All in all, our Century holiday really did exceed expectations.

Excellent ratings allround. This ship had recently come out from refit and was superb,
The cabins were a piece of luxury, with plenty of mirrors which made the room look bigger, well laid out with plenty of space both to move around and to store belongings. The shower room was designed to enable easy movement in a confined space.
The Staterom attendants were excellent keeping the rooms immaculate( loved the display they did with the wife,s nighty!!!!!) yet never intruding .
The main restaurant.... well what can I say, absolutely fantastic with tremendous variety of dishes over the five courses at dinner which we took at the early sitting .The restaurant was on two floors with a breathtaking stairway between the two levels and together with the surrounding windows gave a most luxurious feeling.
We sat on a table of eight who all responded on formal nights by dressing up to the nines !... as did the majority of the ships guests, who we thought were the most friendly crowd that we have met on holiday.
( A cross section of ages mainly americans with English,Scots, Irish, Canadians and other good folk)
The service at dinner ( and at all mealtimes) was beyond compare !.... we were treated like royalty with our every request dealt with the utmost care and always with that necessary touch of humour... and the night of the Alaska Bake !!! with the parade of the staff and the singing of Auld Lang Syne will provide a memory for many years!
The alternative eating was mainly the buffet(Island Cafe) and grill on the resort deck Again the food was excellent and of wide choice with waiters not allowing the ladies to carry their trays to the the table ... curries, burgers( real beef)pizzas. cooked in front of you ,fish ,salads , and the afternoon pastries were deadly for all calory watchers
The entertainment was well varied with many options , The theatre was GRAND in its appearance and performances . I never thought I would give a standing ovation to a group of singers and dancers who on two nights( two perfomances ) were absolutely fantastic.A tremendous singer Scot born Jack Walker together with A Chinese Concert Pianist and a bewildering funny and clever "pickpocket " gave us nights of pleasure.
To finish the night off there were several luxurious lounges with different types of music ... we settled for Michaels Club( with Bing Young on the piano and singing requests) together with a charming Phillipine waiter supplying double scotches and coffee till one .am.
The pools were clean and warm (sea water) and the four spas were invigorating. There were ample loungers around the ship but the area around the pools were always taken up .. no problem, again you were well looked after by the bar attendants while sunbathing /..courteous and helpful.
Overall the ship staff were superb ...run mainly by americans, with a multinational crew,Our cabin attendants were Indonesians, the waiters were Phillipinos, others were Polish ,Romanians etc wonderful
The ship was of medium to big although dwarfed by the QM2which was berthed nearby.. well served by 3 lifts at three points in the ship, plenty of decks to walk about and lounges to relax in (never got the hang of finding our way!!).. Joining the ship was straight forward ( Using the "Express" embarcation form on line beforehand helped a lot!)Disembarcation was well organized ... however this was done by 0930 which meant loads of people together with those from other ships decended on Barcelona Airport at the same time which resulted in long delays checking in and long waits for late flights!!!
Now to mention some concerns which were echoed by many passengers.!
The pricing of goods and services on board! Drinks etc. were diplayed at a price which excluded tax and service charge, therefore when you got the bill there was in some cases a nasty surprise... (unless you were good at mental maths or carried a calculator!)...Why not display the full price ??
Of some concern was the General giftshop with adverts thro the shop saying "No Tax" but when an article was purchased it included tax!!!This was taken up by several people who the same as myself were fobbed off by embarassed assistants who said " its an advert!
It was suggested by some that it could be that Celebrity would be on sticky ground on this one if anyone should take the matter up!
Using the Aqua Spar.. make sure you get what you ask for and not get charged for more than you wanted .. mistakes can be made..
TO sum up "The Century" provided an excellent vacation, with taste of luxury , gave us the chance to see places of great interest, and a chance to meet people and make memories to last a lifetime

Century just out of refit loads of problems, we were lucky only had shower and electrical problems, our shower still flooding when we left after 10 days. Electrical faults in cabins. We went concierge class not worth the up grade balcony class would have been enough. Most extras for concierge class i.e. not queuing for embark/disembark/theatre seats, not available so we queued a lot. Dinning room closed most lunch times so had to have self service lunch on those days. After that moan the cabins had wow factor, the ship was so quite and glided along. Loads of things for anyone and everyone to do they have a no tannoy system you are supposed to check on your tv in your room what is on where, only thing was most people tv's like ours didn't work most of the time. Americans seem to go to bed at about 11.30pm so no crawling back to cabin at 3a.m. Didn't go on any excursions however they did seem to have loads of choice at each port and people we spoke to who went on them said they had had a good time.

Had a Fantastic short cruise with century on June 11th to Guernsey. It was my first ever cruise and i loved it , didnt want to get off!!! as soon as we walked on we was treated like royalty the crew spoil you with delicious food and a superb service. We stayed in the Sky Suite which was very nice as we had some great extras including a Bulter on hand whenever you need him , he even woke us with tea in the morning which was nice although you get these extras they nare probably not worth paying lot more for. The shows in the theatre was ok but not great what you would exspect from a cruise theatre. An Overall fantastic cruise cant wait to go again !!!!

What a shambles this voyage turned out to be. After the first day WOW factor and feeling in heaven, the crew almost universally went missing. This was particularly evident in casual dining areas, and more importantly those welcoming returning passengers at the quayside in Guernsey, who were too busy sleeping to answer any questions.
Anyway back to day 1 and during the evacuation drills, it became evident that this ship would be a death trap if a real emergency happened, as all the gangways to the lifeboats were blocked with carpet remnants from the refit!!!
This ship was not child friendly, and my 12 year old son was actively encouraged to spend $80 on amusements (which were expensive and limited) without my knowledge. When I queried this, the Casino Manager, very kindly gave my son a miniature TV. Great! No! It doesnt work.
At dinner we ordered cocktails. After drinking a couple of mouthfuls, I noticed a piece of glass missing from the drink. The waiter took my glass away and brought back the same drink in a different glass!!!
The entertainment program for day 3 was centred around England playing in the world cup. Only the ship could not pick up any signal and in this technological age, no one knew either how to fix the problem, or how to inform the passengers of what was happening. The crew seemed to be suffering from selective non comprehension of the English language.
We boarded the tenders to get to Guernsey, but the crew left the side door open causing a number of disabled guests to be completely soaked. The crew thought this was hilarious!!!
Our sink in our cabin shot water out of the tap, again not good when you are getting dressed up.
Entertainment was OK but limited.
Finally but not everything I could say, the toilets were a pit, and would be put to shame in any fast food restaurant. They were seldom if at all cleaned, and were generally infested with used towels and excrement.
Worse than that though is the complete ineptitude of Celebrity's Customer Services, who 5 weeks after me writing to them about these potentially life threatening issues, cannot be bothered to reply, despite repeated telephone calls. All they will say is they are busy. Lets hope no one is ill, injured or worse as a result of their failings.
Shame on you Celebrity Cruises.
