This was our first ever cruise, and it will definately not be our last! We arrived in miami and stayed overnight in the miami intercontinental (great hotel)The following morning we then flew to san juan to board the ship.
When the ship came into sight i could not believe the sheer size of it!(it is massive)
Boarding was quick and simple, and we were in our room within 30 mins. The ship is spotless and the crew are very helpfull. The food was that good that we ate in the horizon buffett every night. The other members of the family did try the restaurant and they said that was also excellent.

Sorry now for the bad points !

The ship does not cater very well for children, and we did recieve a few complaints(from our american friends!)that children should not be in a bar where there is alcoholic bererage served.I pointed out to them that kids are allowed anywhere in the ship with the exeption of the nightclub and casino.

The americans on board,do tend to be quite rude(not all of them)

Would i sail on golden princess again ? most definately (when the kids are a bit older !)

If your thinking of going just do it,you will have a great time ! ! !

We sailed on GP on a British Isles Cruies. The ship overall was great but the service in the Canaletto (fixed dining) Room left a lot to be desired. Food was ok but would have preferred more choices. The salads in the Horizon Court (24hour) buffet were excellent, the best I have ever seen, and the inside cabin although on the small side, very comfortable. The cabin steward was outstanding and nothing was to much trouble for him. Don't know why thay have to have this dreadful piped (and loud) music played all over the ship. It would be nice to have a quiet corner sometimes! Would sail on her again. Going on Sun Princess in 2 weeks!

WE just returned yesterday from having spent the last 16days on the Golden Princess. We found the food fair
entertainment fair, both the food menues and entertainment were both repeated the second week !
We thought the layout of the ship was too vast e.g
The cabins were midship the entertainment etc were at the front and back of ship a long trek for anyone who has walking problems.

Sailed on Golden twice this year, once from San Juan (never again!!) and once round British Isles which was a fantastic cruise - quite one of the best we have done (and it was our 11th cruise). Golden Princess is a super ship. I don't know how people can fault the buffets in Horizon - they are amazing and the fillet mignon in the steakhouse was amazing. Have just returned from a cruise on Thomson Celebration - now their food really is the pits - their buffets are close to inedible. The entertainment on Golden was as good as any ship and much better than say Ocean Village. The staff and cleanliness of the ship are second to none. Sailed from Southampton the second time and that was so much better than flying to join the ship.

Going on Sapphire Princess in January 2007 and cannot wait!!!!

we sailed on the golden princess 28 nov 04 from san juan purto rico.
the ship is fine the food is ok with a good choice.
but be warned , princess cruises sell of all the remaining cabins locally which means in effect the ship becomes a local booze cruise.
the 24 hr dining room is like a war zone and when you finally obtain yor food you have to find somwhere to sit.
i would never go on a princess cruise again sailing from san juan, this is our 6th cruise and the worst,we were glad to leave the ship.

We have travelled with Princess 16 times and had a great time over all,and have travelled out of Puerto Rico [San Juan]about 5 times. But I agree with Millicent Smith as last year cabins were sold off cheaply in SJ and the ship did resemble a booze cruise, and we also will never sail out of SJ again.
As for the ship I cannot fault the cleanliness or staff. The food in the restaurants is excellent, however the Horizon Court buffet is very standard.
We find the entertainment disappointing as we are still watching mostly the same shows as were on when we first started cruising in 1996.
