We have cruised 5 times and this was our first with Princess Cuises. The Ruby Princess is a beautiful ship and the public rooms are of a very high standard. The staff on board were excellent. The cabin stewardess was realy friendly and nothing was to much for her as were our waiter and waitress, these staff could not be faulted, indeed the waiter took back a steak I had for one dinner 3 times as he wasn't satified that it had been cooked how I liked it.
I found the cabin smaller than other cruise ships I have been on and the balcony small.
There were no tea or coffee making facilities in the cabin which have always been provide on the other cruise lines we have been with and the mini bar consisted of a bottle of water and a few cans of soft drinks.
Although the meals in the formal dining room were very good I could not say the same about the food provided in the horizon resteraunt which is self service.
I thought the prices of the trips ashore were exhorbitant and quite a few of the friends we made on the ship agreed with us and also complained that they thought they were very poor, some of these people were seasoned travellers with Princess Cruises and had had much better experiences with other ships in this Line.
I also found out once on board that we were also being charged an extra 21 dollars per day for hotel services for the cabin and there was also a 15% service charge on top of the price of all drinks except the free coffe and tea in the horizon which was virtually undrinkable.
The entertainment with the exception of the last night could be best described as mediocre. On some occassions the entertainment in the theatre which had been on twice on one night was repeated on the first show of the next night.
With the exception of the staff I was very dissapointed with the cruise and I doubt we will go with them again, I'll stick with Royal Caribean

This was a holiday of a lifetime ! The Ruby is a beauifull ship.Embarcation was very quick and well organised .We had a balcony stateroom on caribe deck. The balcony was huge compared to other decks with sun loungers table and two chairs. Little over looked but not a problem. The steward was great nothing was too much trouble. We found the whole staff to be very friendly and willing to help.Loved the food from the horizon court buffet to the crown grill(yummy steaks). We had anytime dining and didnt realy have to wait long especially if your willing to share which we enjoyed .
Enjoyed most of the entertainment theatre shows were very good ,but be aware very busy get there early.
Painless dissembarkation very well organised.Only real fault was with reps at the airport very uninformative! not a good introduction to Princess. But get past that and you can expect a fabulous holiday . Booked again for Feb 2010 second holiday of a lifetime . CAN'T WAIT.
