I have just spent 30 days on the Star in an inside cabin. Cleanliness throughout the ship was excellent, and although our cabin was smallish, there was plenty of storage space. The wardrobe space was ample, as was the drawer space. The bathroom was adequate, though the shower was fairly small, but again there was plenty of storage. We were also able to store our suitcases under the beds with no problem.
There are two specialty restaurants, plus 3 other dining rooms, a 24hr buffet, a cafe serving fresh rolls, cakes and soup throughout the day, plus a wine bar, a burger bar, pizza bar, and an ice cream parlour. On sea days there were also themed lunch buffets, and on occasion themed buffets in the evenings. Apart from food in the specialty restaurants, the wine bar, and some ice cream, all other food choices are included in the cruise price. We chose to have traditional evening dining with waiter service and the food was wonderful. Should you find that there was nothing on the menu you fancied, then all that was needed was to ask you waiter for something else, and it was provided!! Also if you couldn't choose what you did want, then you could just order one of everything!!! All requests were very cheerfully met, when I did see guests doing just this!! The other dining rooms were open for breakfast and lunch, again with waiter service, and on some days afternoon tea was served in these dining rooms. The food in the 24hr buffet was supposedly the same as in the dining rooms, but on the few occasions I tried it, the same dishes were not available, plus the food was only lukewarm. Every other food outlet was excellent!!
The ships staff were friendly and helpful in the main. Nothing was too much trouble for them, they worked extremely long hours yet always had a smile for the guests. Unfortunately we had a cabin steward who didn't seem to be enjoying his job too much, I did mention it, and although the steward apologised, his service didn't get any better. Other holidaymakers sharing the same steward had the same problems with him. He was definitely in the minority.
On board entertainment was incredible. This was a long cruise with many sea days, and the entertainment staff worked very hard to ensure everyone had something to do should they wish to. There was street entertainment in the Atrium every day, plus musicians to suit every taste in the bars. Daytime events included competitions, trivia, lectures, bingo, dance classes etc. Evening entertainment was of a very high standard, and the shows changed nightly. There were shows repeated on some days at different times, so that guests didn't miss any of them. There is also a nightclub open till the early hours, though not very well attended. Of course, there are also 4 pools to sit by, and there were themed party nights which were very well attended. Also there is now "Movies Under the Stars" twice each evening where sunbeds are given mattresses and blankets, and popcorn is served to anyone wishing to watch a film.
