Can't believe you guys go on holidays to eat Mc Donals and KFC!! I'm glad I'm the one on this site not hubby, cos he does his nut in thinking that people go abroad to eat the same food as you would at home! I'm not opposed to either, but I'm just laughing at the thought of hubby's face if he were to read this thread!!! Sorry guys!!xxx :rofl :rofl

Well, I'm sure for some people it will be a home from home then.
I've said it before on here, and I'll say it again - The 'strip' in sidari is the most Un-Greeek place I have ever been to in Greece, a truly awful place.

We went to sidari - for the first time- and loved it - just wished we had not booked next years holiday before we went away - or I'd be back next year. There are absolutely load of greek restaurants/bars/etc....- so I would have to disagree with it being "un-greek"

We are talking about the same sidari, there's not two are there?
A strip full of British/Irish pubs, the afore mentioned fast foods outlets, and even a supermarket that advertised the fact that it sold English bread!
Undoubtedly there are Greek restaurants, but we didn't see any amongst all the British pubs etc..
Everyone to their own and all that, but typically Greek it isn't. It's a resort geared to the British and that sums the place up for me.

Unless you know of another sidari,- then yes we are talking about the same sidari.

Of course the strip is quite british - but did you not venture out to other places, besides the strip.?(We only went there 2 or 3 times). We saw absolutely loads of greek restaurants., and set of in different directions every day, and came accross some beautiful restaurants/bars (Greek!). Never came accross the English supermarket - we preferred to go to the greek one, just at the bottom of the road.

You summed it up in one - each to their own!

Mods sorry for going :offtop . Feel free to move it.

:wave We have been going to Sidari since 1991 and we love it!

Like someone else said, we venture out on foot to the little places out of the way. I know there is an odd english bar in the strip, but in all the years I have been going to sidari (17 years), I cannot say that I have noticed more than about 2. :que As for the food, it is as greek as any of the other greek islands that I have ever been to. :tongue Maybe they have introduced many more english dishes on the menus to accommodate us as many will not try the local cuisine? I for one would never want to eat anything but greek while I am away! :fly

I have no doubt that there are nice places in and around sidari to eat and drink. It's the strip I'm talking about though.
We didn't stay in sidari, we stayed in Roda, and went to sidari on the local bus. I didn't like what I saw on the strip, It looked, and was typically British, and to be honest, what was on offer, i.e. McDonalds, pubs et al, I can get at home.

So you didn't actually stay in sidari - you drove past the strip- (Without seeing what the rest of the resort offered?),and formed your opinion on sidari on that basis alone!

Fair enough
