Hi all,
Looking to book nice and early for next years holiday as usual. Would like Ibiza this year and to travel during the school holidays for the first time - we used to take the kids out of school but due to changes in working patterns we will need to have time off in the hols now.
In the past we have never paid more than 2k for 2 weeks AI and have stayed in some great hotels (Hemera Side, San Miguel, Esperides kalithea) but now I'm finding the difference in prices for the school hols horrendous.
Are the prices higher for 2010 or am I being silly to expect anything less? I've tried pricing up all sorts of holidays outside of the school hols and even then there seems to be no bargains about..
Am i looking too early? I can't seem to get any free child places either....any ideas anyone??
well i think its a little early to book yet.most tour ops have not got the prices out yet.plus free child places.you could join up for email alerts.so you can get the best deals first.just keep looking and trying.as prices go up and down everyday.same with just flights only.or if you have a place in mind.nip in shop and try your best at knocking them down.they have 10 to 15 % to play with.
But, to travel during the school holiday is always a lot more expensive. If you have 4 or more in your family I'd suggest you get in early before all the family rooms and free kids places are taken. For example, we went to Crete in 2008 and paid £2600 for 2 weeks all inclusive by booking a year in advance. Closer to the time the cost had jumped to £3800 due to the fact we would need 2 rooms which meant both kids paying adult prices.
We are a week back from the Ereso in Es cana but thomson are showing no free child places for next year August and the price has jumped up massively because of this.
We have booked with FC for the algarve 2 weeks half board next August for £1,934 inc free child - exact same holiday with thomsons £2863 so worth it to keep price checking between companies - our flight is a thomson one too so can't figure why thomson are charging almost a thousand pounds more than first choice for the same holiday - baffling!
Carol.
For instance, Portland are only doing one property with free child places from Cardiff (the Nana beach in Crete) - last year there were a few to choose from.
I always book a year in advance and to test my theory have priced up holidays from June right through till October to see if there are any bargains around - there aren't any - nothing less than 2k for a family of 4 on AI anywhere, at any time.
I'm sure the prices are generally higher for 2010.
Also a lot of the accomadation only prices aren`t out yet, keep an eye on them as well as the flights and you may be able to get a good price doing a diy holiday.
We are paying £1250 for 2 adults and our 14yr old son for the last 2 weeks in July in Portinax. He was free and I have seen plenty of other free child places with them over the last 3/4 weeks.
I dont think it is too early, just have a good look around before the free child places disappear which I am sure they will do pretty soon!!
