I went to Bugibba 20 years ago, as a young 17 year old on my first holiday and would like to go back with my partner to show him the history. I have read many postings and some not so positive so have a couple of questions. I'm not expecting a 4* hotel, we just want a clean bed and somewhere with a pool, we don't mind if the restuarant is not up to much as we would eat out mostly.
September - is everything still open
Would you think Bugibba is suitable for two 37 year olds who like to have a good drink and laugh, but not interested in clubs
Are there many bars in Bugibba
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Yes everything will still be open in September so no worries there.
There are enough bars in the Bugibba / Qawra area to keep a couple of youngsters like yourselves occupied and it is also easy to get in to St Julians / Paceville should you really wish to party
Hotels in Malta can be a bit of a hit or miss, try and choose as high a star rating as you can and if you find a hotel that you might like come back on here and check the reviews and also ask some questions about it.
The weather will still be very nice in September and it is easy to get out and explore by bus all parts of the island from Bugibba.

Malta has never been my favourite destination as I dealt with travel complaints for the island for several years working for a major tour operator. I've been several times and although it is slowly growing on me, it will never be at the top of my list of places to go but we go for a particular reason each year, to catch up with my parents whilst they are there on holiday.
It's always been Bugibba they stay in and they've recently bought a timeshare in Qawra.
For location, I would say the Santana, the San Anton/io? and the New Dolmen as they are within easy reach of the bus station and "tourist street" for bars and restaurants.
Personally, we prefer Paceville as it's prettier by the harbour end and also Sliema, as although it's busier - it's right by the waterfront with views across to Valetta.
We will be back there in February, no doubt!

hiya we go to bugibba every year, well more the Qwara end of Bugibba but it is only a five minute walk into bugibba square, we also don't like clubs, but like a good drink. we like the george pub in qwara and O'Neils Irish bar in bugibba but what we like to do is have a drink in all the bars, some are so little and old and tacky but great. you might remember the Tartan bar on bugibba sea front....it's gone now shame.
