Wait till the last minute (assuming it's not Xmas). If your job is flexible a few days each way you will probably pick up something cheap. Otherwise fly to Mumbai. I've never thought the package tours booking in advance is a great deal.

Last year we booked in September to go in December (flew back on Christmas day) and we only paid £288 each

If you can hang on it might be worth it

Thanks, i suppose it will be a lot cheaper if we hang on and book later, but my other halfs job is a nightmare to get time off work, especially with it being so close to christmas.
My job isnt so bad, this year i booked a month before i went, and paid about 300pounds to go in Jan, which i thought was pretty good.

I suppose its always been known that booking in advance is pricey.

yummymummy, does the price you have been quoted include accommodation at Christmas time? I think that is really cheap :!: We have booked with First Choice for two weeks for 4 of us flying from Manchester on the Premium grade and its costing us £6500. I think you have got a good deal there

Pollygolly - no it isnt at christmas time, its early Dec so i dont think its a good deal at all.
I know of a few people whp have had december holidays to Goa and paid no more than 300pounds each.

Sam - that seems a bit expensive for your flights, although i suppose you went for christmas didnt you?

it for this year and it from 16 dec so over xmas and new year. i shopped around and nearly all flights were gone for 3 weeks holiday. thomsons wanted £6500 as we need 2 sep bedrooms, so i happy with what we got. also we flyin with sri lankan airways which is like thomson premium, if i wanted that with thomsons i would have to pay another £1000 on top of thr £6500!!! In end i have saved nearly £4000 that a lot of spending money!

Calhorn who did you book with? We booked last Sept for early Dec with Travelbag and paid £475 each

I think he booked with thomascook.
I remember him saying he landed back in the UK on christmas day, so maybe that was why it was so cheap

We paid 3500 for 4 adults, as my children are 18 and 15. We always have two rooms, this was for only one week at Highland Beach by Thomas Cook. Although we are paying 6500 for this Christmas and New Year this was one of the cheaper 5star holidays available and it was for 2 weeks so we are quite satisfied :D We like to stay in bigger hotels as we do like our luxury! At Christmas the price always increases as everyone knows but we can only go at those times due to school holidays, University holidays and College holidays! :wave

Yummymummy let us know if you get a good deal

I'm going 8-30 December - wanted to go from Brum - in the time I had to wait for the ok from work flight had gone up loads - I ended up paying £600 but now it is £800! You've got a good deal if the dates are similar to mine, I've been told charter flights have been cut this year, prices are a lot higher. My flight next March is also a lot more than I usually pay and I can't get the date when I always go - have got to go a week later!
