Both the Paraiso de Albufeira and the Brisa Sol are 4* hotels situated roughly midway beteen the Strip and the Old Town;the Brisa Sol is nearer to the Old Town by about 400 yds. Hope this helps.

I have been checking prices on http://www.wintersunshineholidays.com and they also seem quite competative for Algarve accommodations. A few people on this forum have used them, they give a discount if you do a repeat booking and have a price match policy.
