Hi
I'm planning to go to Samos in May with my family - 4 of us inclusing 2 small children. The majority of accomodation I've found has been studio apartments, which aren't suitable.
Any recommendationbs would be welcome, especially contact details of people with villas to rent out. Having said that, we can't afford luxury places..
Thanks for your help

you could try the Anthis apts near pythagorion you will be upstairs in the larger rooms but we`ve had five in one the year before last. And kosta and his family are great and pythagorion is only a 20 min stroll. its in the kosmar brochure
djsp, we stayed in Kokkari on Samos last summer. Stayed at the Kalidon Palace. Though this may not be suited to you with the children, but they have a sister hotel in the village that runs a bus to the Palace and to 2 of the nearby beaches, doing a loop every hour, and unusual for Greece it ran dead on time. The other place that had rave reviews was the Venus Hotel. I think they are only available through Thomsos.
Kokkari is a much smaller village than pythagoria and has lovely beaches a 1 - 3 minute stroll from either hotel!
If you want any more info pm me!
This is where we stay, and book direct with the owner..

We were longing to go to Samos for a while. We never went because: We couldn't find any 2 bed apts, Rough guide indicated that Samos is quite expensive by Greek standards and the airport runway is at the end of the beach v close to Pythagorio.
Thhe apts we stayed at are only 1km from the airport but you hardly hear any noise as there are so few flights
As for eating out, , certainly not in Kambos as it is not very touristy. We found it one of the cheaper places, we went to Crete and Samos last year, and Crete was far more expensive.
As for the airport being close to Pythagorio, yes it is, and a very interesting landing indeed;) but as Borismab says, there are not many flights into Samos, I cant comment about aircraft noise in that area, but there are other resorts too.
Samos Town, Kokkari, Kambos/Votsalakia, Lemonakia, Kerveli and Possidonia to name a few
It even has a very nice airport with not many flights in and out.
Price wise, we stayed on the outskirts of Samos Town and found it to be really reasonable and superb quality food.
Pythagorio is very attractive - nice little harbour and a very short transfer from the airport. You really won't notice the aircraft noise.
We went with Portland although they have now handed over all Samos holidays to their sister company Thomson. It was extreme;y good value for money.
We shall most certainly return.

Take a look at Cachet - not that cheap but supposed to be very good

We have booked to go to Samos this year, have never been before and did the holiday independently. So much cheaper. Booked Villa Violetta (there are 10 rooms) at Ag. Nikolaos/Ag. Dimitrios on the north coast near Karlovassi. Know nothing about it, but we like a quiet location, use a car and drive to find our evening entertainment (I think Kokkari is about 15 mins drive). It was certainly very reasonably priced for double room with private bathroom right on the sea and with a pool. Just booked our flights with XL.
Now, having said this, I wonder if anyone has ever stayed here that could give me a review or tell me more about that area.
Thanks.
Chris
