my wife and i booked the holgate hotel in york through active hotels but two weeks before we found out that we were unable to go that weekend so we cancelled the booking
it wasnt until i checked my bank statement that i noticed that the holgate hotel had charged me one nights stay ie £75-00p for cancelling.
as this only appearred on the cancellation page i feel a bit aggrieved
so please be aware active hotels do not charge a cancellation fee but the hotel that you book through them do
the active web said it was four star- it wasnt it was 2
the active web said it had satelite tv,radios in rooms - they didnt
the active web said it had entertainment - it didnt
we complained to manager who took a copy of their details which wed printed because it was false advertising and he would take it up with hotel owner
we got at least 50% off bill and an apology from hotel but not from active hotels.
weve also browsed recently for hotels in scarborough and blackpool as well as the alton towers hotel and active say no rooms available but when you actually ring them up there are plenty of rooms available having wasted time and money browsing internet.
who is running active hotels ? the muppets.
