As required by law, formal notice has been given of a general strike on Thursday 24 June. All the major trade unions are advising their members to strike as a show of displeasure of the government raising the retirement age in a rolling programme over the next few years.
This means potential disruption for those travelling by air and rail, with extra road congestion and possibly no buses. Do check with your travel companies before leaving home.

We were in France, driving from Normandy to Zeebrugge, didn't notice any difference in traffic levels, maybe we were just lucky.
