Hi, We are thinking of booking up to go to Corfu next May for the first time. We have seen a few places in Sidari which look nice and thought this may be the place to go to try Corfu out for the first time. Would you recommend this? Also as our budget is quite tight could anyone advise me roughly how much spending money we would need for two weeks. It is just me and my husband and he likes to drink lots of beer on holiday although I do not drink. We will be eating basic food. Most of our time will be spent relaxing although we will do a few watersports and I presume a couple of cheap excursions.
Any help would be apreciated.
Thanks
The prettiest place in Corfu is Paleocastritsa (not sure if I've spelt it correctly) I think it's on the west coast. Sidari has a great beach but it's a bit on the tacky side.
You can eat very cheaply and well if you eat at the local restaurants - were the locals go, not the upmarket ones just for the tourists. The greek take-aways are excellent - try the giros (all sorts of fillings wrapped up in a pitta bread, like a pancake).
Wherever you go - have a great time! The Greek people are very friendly and will go out of there way to ensure you enjoy yourself

Thanks for the advice!

I looked this site up that you suggested and the resort looks lovely and quiet. Will keep this in mind for another time. We are off to Agios Gordios in September, we have never been there before so we are looking forward to it and the reports are good for this resort. Very quiet too and the restaurants are reckoned to be very good and reasonable. I was told by a forum member that you can get a large meze for two for 6 Eur. and you probably wont need a main course. Much better value than the UK. The beach is supposed to be a lovely one too and there are some lovely walks so we cant wait now. We normally visit Crete every year and that is very dry and very dramatic in places so this will be a bit different as it seems that Corfu is very green. When we hire the car for a few days might just go to San Stefanos and have a look round. Counting down the days!

Regular visitors love it because is not commercialised due to the poor road access so you get genuine friendly local people running the shops and other businesses and can see a lot of authentic local Corfu life.
There are many photographs on the web-site shown below.
