hi

thanks chelsea boy ive just rang them and they do accept pets as excess luggage £6 per kilo so this should work out a lot cheaper than the £500 i was quoted for t cook and thomsons, they told me to go to consulate website and follow these instructions

Veterinary certificate (and vaccination document) which should be issued not more than fifteen days before traveling to Turkey should be legalised by the British Foreign Office.
Export certificate issued by the British Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries or by the British Foreign Office

how do i go about getting cert stamped by foreign office sounds a bit official

Hi Ellie,

Your vet will sort all the paperwork out for you, and he'll send the forms off to the Home Office too.

Hope you get it all sorted out!

thanks strawberry, its a minefield, trying to find out now the cheapest way to take excess baggage, sadly the flights ive booked only allow a max of 32 kilos each grr which wont be enough, kthy allow more but are dearer per kilo, so i will have to sit down and work it all out , excess prices, dog, passenger etc and see which works out the cheapest overall, but a lot havent prices for next year yet

Kthy also allow you more travelling weight. When we moved we were hideously overweight and we said we were emigrating and they let us off!!! Also the drinks are free on board so you can de-stress!

how long ago was that chelsea boy as they have told me £6 a kilo and i know it will be at least 200 extra if im lucky, judging by what i can get in a case of 20 kilos, we need at least 4 times that amount grrr. they dont have next years prices out yet so cant look to see how much their passenger charges are, looks like my hubby will have to go alone on this flight as we have flights already booked and paid for and dont want to waste money, but we cant take the dog or much excess on the onur air flights i have booked, so not sure if they see hubby alone with a dog and over 200 kilos of luggage what they will do lol

i moved out in 2004 so things might have changed. Then they allowed 32 kgs per person. I thought that if you booked cargo it was cheaper than excess luggage. give them a bell

ive just rang them and they have told me the cargo way is very complicated, loads of forms and items will be held up at customs for hours and so they dont recommend this way and therefore wouldnt give me a price only excess baggage at £6 a kilo with no weight limit restrictions , now im wondering if thats genuine or a way to make more money out of me i know that sounds cynical !!!

it is possible that because you are not a resident then it will be complicated. Why not send them in your mums name? I presume she is a resident. Don't get disheartened, Turkey is nice but you don't half have to work at it!! I will ask my contact at Turmar travel( ex mugla chief of traffic police) If he knows a way. He usually knows the rules and how to enforce them!

yes she is a resident, but they arrived in turkey about 4 yrs ago with 1 suitcase each lol so didnt go through all this hassle. they put all their things in storage in uk and have rebought over there, so she cant answer my queries. i was wondering whether it would be worth hiring if possible a small motor caravan and driving over there with it loaded up full of our extra items and dog lol, but a turk we know has told me that once we arrive in turkey the customs will take the motorvan to pieces although i wont have anything to hide i dont think with a dog and 7 yr i could cope with hours of that, so havent looked into the possibilities of that, i know you cant take a private vehicle into turkey for more than 6 mths without huge complications and charges so have been warned about that . i appreciate your help chelsea boy

Karen, don't despair..... give Mustafa an email at info@turmartravel.com . He will ask Osman(ex chief of traffic police) what's needed. I have had a word already and they seem to be optimistic. As long as it's not electrical stuff there seems to be little trouble. It might need to come in your mums name though.

thanks ,ive emailled them today and ill let you know what they say . the only electric things we want to take is my daughters wii ill take that in our suitcase
