Hi everyone,
Is anyone here travelling on 5A 132 on Thursday,3rd Nov, from manchester in Sunshine 1st ?
I have had a call from Travel City to inform me that although SF is available out bound , it will not be available inbound from Sanford as the aircraft is being grounded for maintainence. They are refunding half of my SF supplement and everyone will have to have economy seating for the return leg.
I would be grateful to hear any replies.
best wishes

Dave,
you must be gutted.
Good Ole TCD have let you down, you of all people, one of their greatest ambassadors.

I find it amazing that they've arranged to service the plane before it's forced upon them by some breakdown. Who knows, the replacement aircraft may have a better chance of getting you home without a delay as a bonus.

I'd be interested to know when they mail the refund payments though, bet it's not soon and it's only 4 weeks off. Bet you paid in full 10 weeks prior to dep. and if you paid a credit card charge, get them to add the relevant portion of that onto your sunshine refund.

Of course, there's the concept of breach of contract. TCD is responsible for the actions of it's suppliers so they cannot excuse themselves by reason of necessary maintenance - hire another plane with a sunshine equivalent.

Best of Luck.

Hi Mike,

I dont think they have let me down as they are still providing the service. They are refunding the sunshine first half supplement by the end of the week. No CC charge as I paid by debit card. Lisa at TCD was waiting for the seating plan when she spoke to me for the return aircraft. I can still use the SF check-in, have 40kgs of luggage etc. The only thing that crossed my mind was this, I will be travelling alone this time as I have friends in Florida, so have they bumped me off to give the seat to another passenger? If that was the case, they would have done it for the out bound trip also. Anyway, it wont hurt to fly economy for once its just that Im a big lad and I do like me comfort.
best wishes

Air Atlanta Europe flights check in at the Station, see Which Terminal Manchester for more info. Air Atlanta Europe and Excel airways are sister airlines, and will be merged in to one by May 06.

I am due to fly to Sharm El Shank in Egypt on Sunday 6th November with Air Atlanta and my tickets say terminal 2, after reading this site and looking at Manchester Airports Site it says I must check into at the "Station", where is the station check in desks? and should I get dropped of a termianl 1 or terminal 2. Thanks.

There are signs for the station as you come off the motorway you can't miss them and once inside follow the signd to the check-in desks real easy :D

we flew with them last year from Manchester.
they used a 747 jumbo so it was half empty.
Flight on time, and not much to complain about.
asked for veggie meals and they gave us sausage swearing it was vegetarian sausage,(it wasn't), in flight entertainment was average.
plane was old and a bit tatty but nothing fell off !
I would use them again without worrying

Hiya

Check out the flights forum for 13 pages about air atlanta - Think you will find they are a part of the Excel group - Whether this is good or bad will leave you to decide. My sis flew with them last month and ended up on a jumbo to/from dalaman

I don't think that they are part of Excel, but Excel certainly use them.

Air Atlanta are Icelandic and it is the Icelandics that own the Excel group so yes they are very much part of them.

Within the group some aircraft operate under the colours and flight numbers of Excel and some under Air Atlantas

Avion Group ,http://www.aviongroup.com were created by Air Atlanta Icelandic, to bring all their companies under one banner. They now own Air Atlanta Icelandic, Islandsflug (to be merged with Air Atlanta) , Air Atlanta Europe (UK - to be merged with Excel), Excel Airways, Avia Engineering, and recently acquired Travel City Direct.

They also own a shipping company, and their whole protfolio comprises 67 aircraft and 22 ships. Quite impressive!
