From personal experience of always taking our holidays in August, I have to say I couldn't do without it. Our first holiday didn't have it and boy did we suffer at night - the heat was unbearable to try and sleep in. We hired a fan which to be honest was a complete waste of money.
I have to say I find Majorca much hotter in August than the Canaries though. We were in Fuerte last August and while I wouldn't have liked to have been without A/C, the heat did not feel as intense at night.

Having trawled the brochures on fuerte for our holiday 2 years ago I would say that most of the hotels had it but not all of the apartments.

Hi,
I don't know of any apartments here that have air conditioning, apart from privately owned ones. It is normally cool enough here in the evenings that it is not needed. I have been to Greece in the height of summer and it is much hotter there than here. We sleep with fans on us at night and it is enough. I don't think the islands electricity supply would cope if everyone suddenly started using air conditioning

I could not stay in a hotel abroad in the middle of summer without air con. Bit concerned from the reviews i have read about the hotel i am going to in may that there isnt much aircon in the whole building in communal areas including the dining room.
