Hello charliegirl007 I got back on the 4th of Jan and most people at the airport who were smoking were outside, what I did notice in the pubs there were no ashtrys but but if you did smoke the landlord gave them a empty beer/cidar can to flick there ash in.

Depends which airport you are departing the UK from. I can confirm that both Gatwick and Heathrow have a smoking area. AT heathrow in terminal 4 you will find one at each end of the terminal, i.e. next to gate 20 and next to gate 1. At gatwick its the upper level above the shops in both terminals. In Malta yes there are two smkoing areas in the departure lounge....none in the arrivals though.
