We couldnt book an airport transfer when we booked our holiday and I rang thomas cook and she has only got back to me today with a price of £192.85.
We are flying to Tunis airport and staying at Borj cedria which is only 35 km from the airport.
Is this about the right price or would it be cheaper getting a taxi direct from the airport?
I wsa just worried as we dont arrive at Tunis until 23.55 and with two kids didnt want to messing about.
Thanks in advance
Last summer we were quoted £90 for 3 of us to transfer to Sousse (by taxi) from Monastir, a distance covered in about 20 minutes, we paid about 25TND including tip on way there, 18TND inc tip on way back. Inward journey was well after midnight.
Had we not sought and got information from this site, we would have paid the £90 as it didn't sound a lot, thank goodness we didn't!
Have a great break
mgb
thank you for that my husband was nearly daft enough to pay for it.
it might be worth searching for the words "taxi transfers" on this website, there is a really good post, I think by Aslemma, giving you some tips on how to not sound too "green" and therefore getting a better deal on your taxi trip. I don't think I have seen any to Borj, but the principle will be the same - haggle, haggle, haggle lol!
Regards
mgb
thanks I will do that
Just remember, a look of total amazement and a scornful laugh at their first price. Prices are dearer after a certain time, but over £190 is taking the p***. Unless the transfer is included in the price it is never worth taking what the company offer, especially if there is more than one of you!
A friend has just pointed me towards the Med Hotels site. They apparently do transfers, even if you haven't booked the hotel through them. Just click on the link at the top of their page for TRANSFERS - Tunis to Borj Cedria appears to be about £3 per person each way. It's certainly worth checking out.
Thanks anyway Tracey
I'm glad you got it sorted Tracey. Now we can add Lastminute to our list of useful sites - anything to avoid the dreadful prices tour operators quote for transfers
Oh and he nerly fell of his chair when I told them how much Thomas Cook wanted to charge he said he couldnt wait to tell hi boss to brighten up her day and he also said well its their loss.
Tracey
I've just had a look at their site and couldn't find any link for transfers. Could you possibly put a link or phone number on here, as I'm sure many people would be very grateful. It's too late for me now as I'm going tomorrow, so I'll just have to hope I get through the airport in time to catch the train - if not it's a 4 hour wait for the next one or get a louage

Hope you have a great time let me know when you get back as I am going for the first time on May 19th
Thanks so much for the phone number. I'm sure many people will be glad of it. I'll post when I get back.
