We are thinking of going to Akyaka. Hotel or self catering ? We like a bit of comfort.
Any info of what there is to do.
Bars, eating places.
Anything to help.
Best time of year
Thanks
akyaka is a gorgeous place, fab beach lovely scenery, lovely riverside with restaurants dotted along it, but its low key so theres no loud music blaring etc, they do have boat and river trips, its a traditional turkish place, quite a few nice restaurants and not badly priced, we love akyaka and have been visiting it for a few years ,we stayed there for 3 weeks this summer. its only 20 miles from marmaris so a day out there is easy to do and the cost is 60 lira return in a taxi. its open all year round and we have been summer and winter. anything else i can help you with let me know. have a look at this website

I've been having a look at Akyaka for next year as well. I'm also pondering Turgutries and Gumusluk.
I like small places where there are enough restaurants and places to sit and have a drink in a lazy, chilled fashion.
Still plenty of time to decide. Any other destinations along the same vein, ie. nice and quiet but not desolate would be appreciated.

We went to Akyaka this year on day trip not far from Marmaris.
It is loverly, small but enough to entertain you.I loved the beach thought it was well laid out. Would not personally recomend Yucelen hotel, i had a look around while there as fancied it myself, nice spot on beach, staff great but rooms not up to much

Ah that's interesting, I am looking at going there next year in June/July and I think I've plumped for Ottoman Residence. It is a way outside the village but looks like it's a lovely riverside walk down there, peaceful etc. Yucelen seemed a very popular choice of hotel though, but knowing my partner and I we would miss out on the lovely scenery the walk would give us if we stayed in a hotel closer to the centre.
hi we also spent the day at akaya when we were in marmaris in may. the beach was lovely.we also did the river boat trip which was great.saw lots of turtles and other wildlife.nice cafe bar along the beach front a very relaxing dayout. sue
my in laws stayed at the kordon apts this summer and loved it, we went to visit them and were very impressed, very clean and roomy, they have a hotel section too, these are right next to the river and theres a lovely walk from them along the river to the beach and very reasonably priced
we also visited the idyma to use their pool about 3 times a week over our 3 week stay and it was lovely in beautiful gardens , a good 10 mins walk downhill to the beach, here is a link

The Otterman looks gorgeous, I would most cetainly give that a try next time we are down that area
what a beautiful place, we visited last year too.beautiful beach and fish restaraunt
For all who love Akyaka give Dalyan a try, loverly beach, river walks, laid back, nice village
i ve been to Dalyan twice. difficult to compare. Dalyan's beach is gorgeous but a long way to reach...though bouth times we went by boat. later i was said theres a way by car but were i dont know we will try next time.
about Ottoman Residence- a really beautiful hotel to stay, but not for those who has children. last time i visited their web site- they didnt accept children during summer time. dont know maybe something changed...
Ottoman is far from the beach and center so they rent out cars to customers- but i would not advice you to hire a car from them cause they charge a lot. you can find much cheaper .car hire upper in the village.

Does anybody know Kordons web site?

Ottoman is so far out that you need a car? That's not the impression I got - 10 minute stroll was what I had been reading, can someone confirm?
As for no kids under 12 - great stuff!
So far as Dalyan goes, I was there this year and our hotel was beautiful and perfectly positioned along the river. So far as the town itself, I didn't think it was that great to be honest. Though my main objective was relaxing and doing nothing so it was lovely for that, sitting on the hotel jetty watching the boats go by, mmmmm.
