The supermarket near the comlex is good, not sure about nappies though. We did use the big supermarket in the centre of paphos a lot, its opposite debenhams, you should be able to get what you need there, they sell all johnsons baby products, I would say its definately worth a taxi ride down there as we found everything a lot cheaper there.
So, am I allowed to take a large pack of nappies on the plane? Obviously they would take up half a flippin' suitcase, so will they take them as they are are chuck'em in the hold with the rest of the luggage? Should I wrap them?
Sorry for sounding a bit dense... never been away with a baby!
I take the nappies out of the packet and arrange them over the bottom of the suitcase flat in a layer, I pack as many as I can like that, probably 2/3 layers then I take about 10 on the plane with me (always worry take that many incase of a delay - one time I used the lot). My flight bag was always pretty large and full when Conor was 1
Also you could give a few nappies to any others in your group to pop in their luggage if they have space.
do they have pc's ??
We are going on the 3rd 4 adults 2 kids flying from Glasgow.
as for nappies my kids are only 2 & 4 so im well used to the whole baby scenario i would put them in your case round the edges and anywhere else you can fit them but u will find you probably won't need 2 much as your baby will be in swimming nappies all day.
(i hope, I've heard a few bad reports about this hotel closing the pool a few times due to people not putting swimming nappies on there baby's!!! personally i think this is unfair on all other guest and well to be quite honest pretty shocking !!) sorry i went on a bit of a rant there but really there is no need !!!!
I also always found if people were due to leave they try to pass on baby stuff ie nappies to save them taking it home. i would really recommend taking a steriliser and some tablets you cant be to carefull !!
anything else just ask as i said im a baby packing pro, and funny enough this year my wee one gets a baggage allowance and needs no where near as much as he did last year !!!
There is one pc in the luggage room in reception, its 2 euros for 15 minutes, thats if you can get anywhere near it!!! My daughter who cannot be with out msn for 2 long assures me that there are plenty of internet cafes in Phaphos town Couldnt agree more about the swimming nappies, the pool was shut several times while we were there, and my daughter and her friend even found a cup containing poo at the side of the pool, utterly disgusting, when my children were little they always wore swim pants.
Yes, Conor used disposable swim nappies plus I also had a reusable one I'd bought which was brilliant - a lovely tight fit!! I also agree about the pool being shut, it's a disgrace that parents wouldn't put swim nappies on their kids. I saw one or two round the kids pool with nothing on the bottom which is terrible. In my view, some parents have a certain mentality on holiday and seem to stop caring about their kids and don't supervise them enough and check on what they're up to. I have seen it time and time again. They just don't seem to care what they do (eg children pooing in the pool) because they are "on their holidays"........it's an ignorance that really puts my back up. Sorry, I'm ranting now - but this subject bugs me!!
If anything i'm more alert on holiday than at home with my kids,
never let them out of my sight, make sure they don't poop in the pool.
Done some more shopping today
2 sleeps to go
I'm back! It was fantastic, a brilliant holiday. I've been so surprised to read the negative comments and the bad reviews on trip advisor, people are talking absolute crap. Who would complain that their balcony wasn't swept? or that the gardens weren't mature? The place is brand spanking new of course there aren't loads of lush gardens in the new bit but they forgot to say that gardeners can be seen working all day, every day trying to do it! Anyway, never mind about the saddos. The place was beautiful, the food was excellent, the staff and service was exemplary in every area and the only let down about the whole holiday were the other holidaymakers who made me feel ashamed to be British with their bad manners, complaints over absolutely nothing, and their revolting children who roamed free around the complex unsupervised being rude to staff (except at mealtimes when they played their games consoles at the table) not my idea of quality family time but each to their own!! Baldman, I got pics of the kid's suites for you, i'll put them on trip advisor tonight (i'll post review on here too HT, don't worry), the room was perfect really - no c/d player, hair dryer was good, safe was excellent (2euro per day) and we spent about 700 euro in total during 2 weeks but certainly didn't need to we were just extravagent! We went on 2 boat trips from the harbour, one was the glass bottom boat (don't bother, it was a waste of money really) the other was on a new boat called Concorde which was fantastic (120 euro for the four of us). We did the undersea walking, which was excellent, this was a First Choice trip and was well worth the money. We went to coral beach - the home of the young and the beautiful! A worthwhile day out but it took about 45mins on the bus. Paphos Aphrodite waterpark was very good too but do buy your tickets from the reps to avoid the queue to get in. we walked along to the mini golf behind the hotel (about 800metres) we went after dinner one night when it was cooler - the walk wasn't too nice along the deserted road but it was good fun and open till 11pm every night. We ate out at the Indian on the complex and it was a brilliant meal, the best indian i've had for years - well worth a visit. We also took Mrs Maggie's advice and tried Cavallini's down the road, again, a truly fantastic meal - they don't sell pizza but you wouldn't want to waste time eating pizza here! Everything was freshly made, including the pasta and was top class food (86euro for the meal but we'd have paid double for this quality) but you need to book as they are obviously very popular. We went to the italian at the Aliathon too and the food and service was excellent, I have no idea what people are complaining about. I thought the entertainment team were excellent, they worked so, so hard and my daughter says that the entertainment was the highlight of her holiday - they were fantastic and they all knew her name and stopped to chat to us when we saw them. I'm sure i'll think of more to add to my essay but that'll do for now.
Remember you can post you photos in the HT Photo Gallery at the top of the page. I would suggest only posting 5 at a time as the can be slow to upload.

Did you use room service much ???And was it expensive ??? we have 2 young kids and to be honest some nights to knackered to move but hate to miss out on a night so would sit on the balcony with a few drinks, but last year ended up with a fair sized bill after the 2 weeks. or are you allowed to take drinks back to your room from the bar ???
did you find it was i bit more quiet being out of school holidays ???
I no what you mean about rude people you get them everywhere. I think of you go with an open mind then you will have a great time, and if i could stop reading reviews i might not be so worried about minor things !!!!!!!!
And back to an earlier subject can anyone going between the 3rd and 17th of sept PLEEEZZZZZZZ take swimming nappies you can buy reusable ones for 99p a bargain if it means everyone can enjoy there holiday without having to swim about in baby poo !!!!!!!!
I also agree with the Earlie comment about taking more care of your kids on holiday in strange surroundings with strange people you can never be to careful You cant take any chances and well the holiday is about chilling out and having fun but only when your kids are 100% safe
8 sleeps
No fear of me leaving the little one bare-butt - bought her swim nappies months ago.
Don't know the policy on taking drinks back to rooms.........we took them back quite often, quite a trek if you're in the older part ( as we were) as the bar is in the Fishing Village.
angela-8879 - I am going between 3rd and 17th September, but I dont think they do nappies big enough for me and my husband Mind you, I've only just been potty trained so you're safe
Sorry...............but could not resist that one!!
Hope to see you at the Aliathon - The Wild Horse pub at the front is fab. We're usually there for about 7pm every evening before we go for a meal, then back again around 10pm (ish)
Maggie x
No messin about in the morning at 7am, flight at 0930am.
Just weighed bags and guess what ? Mine was 23kg, all others 17kg ish
Must be all the new clothes that i've just got
Anyway post back when we return
Baldman, I have posted my review and pics, i'm just waiting for the ok from trip advisor so I hope it'll be on the site in time for you to see them. You all know I was worried too before we went but honestly, it is lovely - we didn't get ill, no ear infections, no mosquito bites and the room on the ground floor was perfect, I wouldn't have swapped even I could've! The booklet says no drinks in the room but we did and noone seemed to mind - we don't like keeping the children up late every night so mostly we had drinks on the balcony after they were in bed, we were in the fishing village and all the rooms are close to the adult bar so my husband just nipped in and out for them. The shop is reasonable I thought so we had some beers in the fridge from there rather than getting room service. Thanks again for the recommendation about Cavallini's Mrs Maggie, it really was amazing food and the owner seemed to know everyone who was coming in and greeted them like old friends which is an excellent sign in any restaurant, we would never have thought to go there so it's great to have someone with local knowledge! we were there in peak holiday time and I never felt that it was crowded or that we were herded round, there was no major sunbed issue - it was a brilliant holiday and I really feel that my standards are high so please don't worry. I don't think Brits can cope with the laid back cypriot people but why not? You're there to relax so go with the flow and their relaxed manner rubs off on you - I loved it!
I feel I have to make a point here as i was at the Aliathon between the 30th July and 13th August with 2 children one 5 years old and the other 11 months. During my 2 week stay the pool was closed at least 5 times, and 2 of the ocassions were for the best part of the day. However it was noted by the FC reps and other holiday makers that the mess "poo" that was found in the water wasnt that of a baby, or even a toddler and it was always first spotted in the deeper end of the beach pool where the scuba diving lessons took place. So even though I totally agree children not potty trained should be in swimming nappies, I dont think this was always the issue.(If you know what I mean)
Pool was closed once when I was there due to a floating mars bar (it wasn't really i'm afraid) but they were quick to evacuate and begin pool cleaning and water testing - very efficient but I didn't see a single baby in the pool at time of the incident.
Yes I have to agree Casper the hotel were very efficient. I did in fact feel sorry for the hotel staff and certainly the FC reps as some people didn't have lay in to them, and after all this was out of their control.
