The beaches up at Nabq Bay are better than those in Namma Bay. Also Namma Bay can get crowded with all those hotels fronting it and the dive boats going off everyday.
Sharm is more about the sea & coral than the beaches if that makes sense. I think the beaches up at Nabq might be man made as well as the sand is very coarse, but because the terrain at that end is flater they have made more of the beaches than the way they have where the beaches are cut into the side of the rocks.
Try and look at pictures in brochures for hotels in Nabq like The Holiday Village, the Laguna Beach Hotel, The Grand Azure, The Jaz Mirabel Beach hotel, think the Oriental Resort is up there too - that might give you more of an idea what its like beach wise.
The Conrad had the best beach, but I think the hotel is closed for a rerub at the moment and is being relaunched under a different name.
