Hi cloggy

Its a market economy and you can't take away a product because a few don't like it. If nobody went A/I then it would die off, but the fact it is very popular. I don't like A/I hotels personally because I see them more like holiday camps and the hotels tend to be out of the way, of poor quality and normally had a bad reputation as a H/B hotel before. As I said before its greed from bars and restaurants that has caused most of the problems. If you don't like A/I make sure your next booking is to a property that doesn't do A/I for anybody.

I must agree with Dave about a lot of his comments. We have been going A/I for 10 years now and the majority have been very good. Yes they do serve local brands, but when we have been out and about we have been served these same brands in local bars. If you want a premium brand you have to ask and pay extra.
You can buy local spirits for around 6 Euro a litre and some local bars will charge 4 Euro a drink with a slash of mixer from the pump.
A very nice profit.

I think this is a First Choice property??? Not sure though. Look at the Hotel Reviews (click on link above) and it will give a review of the hotel.

Lots of companies now allow you to do an internet search for prices etc

It's worth checking them out as there can be a few hundred pounds difference on some holidays.

Happy searching!

Wherebouts? In Magaluf or elsewhere....

Ive never been to Alcudia myself, but they say its very good for families....

If youre going to Magaluf, itll be start of season, so quieter than summer months and you can try the Fiesta Tropico. Its right over the road to the Fiesta Sahara, and you can use their facilities. Ive stayed in the Sahara twice now, and they have a great pool, and kids entertainment at night. - But this is not AI, its SC.

Its also a step away from Spar, not on a hill, and in the same street as Benny Hills which is a great family bar that you and your family will love. Also, its as central as you can get.

Enjoy Majorca!!

If you're looking for all inclusive with a family welocome have you checked out the Lagomonte in Alcudia or Club Mac; hotels jupiter, saturno and marte.

Club Mac is one of the biggest properties in Alcudia and when i stayed there in 2003 the food was out of this world. Also has a waterpark right on its perimeter and a bus running from the hotel to the beach during the day and to the port area on an evening. From what i remember cosmos, first choice and airtours all have kids clubs with the attachment of the teenagers clubs in the height of summer.

Might be worth putting this post in the AI forum as well?!

I would recommend any of the Sol hotels, they have kids clubs, entertainment on everynight for adults and children and if the kids play games in the day they have presentations of a night and they get certificates etc. The Sol hotels always have a really good family atmosphere aswell :D

Look at First Choice's Holiday Village Viva in C'an Picafort. There is a huge thread on this near the top of the Majorca forum page. I think yu would really enjoy it.

I have stayed at both the Lagamonte (twice) and the Hotel Saturno, in Alcudia.
Alcudia is a lovely resort with a beautiful beach. Family orientated.

Stayed at the Samoa and the America in Callas de Mallorca - smaller resort, family orientated, nice bay with watersports.

In two weeks I am going to the Hotel Santa Ponsa Park in Santa Ponsa, and will write a review on my return.

All these hotels are All-Inclusive. I have stayed at each one during May and the resorts have been lively. Plenty in both resorts to keep kids of all ages amused.

The only hotel I wasn't too keen on was the Samoa, which although centrally located, the bedrooms were in an annex part and were really in need of a good clean and refurbishment and also, there was no air-conditioning in the bedrooms. Having said that, the hotel rooms were fine. I have to say I stayed at the Samoa on 2 occasions, so can't be that bad :D

If you want any more info, let me know.

Hi,

Just booked my flights to Majorca in October after deciding to try and do a DIY holiday. I've shortlisted 4 hotels but cannot make up my mind which one to book. I am travelling with my husband and 2 children aged 13 and 10, so the hotel needs to provide plenty of sports/activities to keep them occupied. My other worry is will the hotel rooms be adequate to accommodate all 4 of us? The hotels I have shortlisted are;

The Lagomonte - Puerto de Alcudia
The sol Balmoral - Callas De Mallorca
Calas de Romani - Callas De Mallorca
Corfu Marina - cala D'or

I have also looked at taxi transfers from airport and these are quite expensive, I then considered hiring a car from the airport for the week, but wondered how safe and easy it is to drive in Majorca?

I would appreciate any advise.

Thanks

:D Lagomonte is brilliant good food great for kids. Kids club starts at 10.30 am till 12.30 then 2.30. till 4.30 then on a night 9.00pm till roughtly midnight. The entertainment team keeps the kids well entertained and its free to put your child in them ages are 3yrs to 12yrs. We have just came back from this hotel and would recommend it to any one.

And in between all the activity for younger kids there is games etc for teenagers and adults archery pool killer darts rifle shooting.

The rooms are ok there was 4 of us in one room and it wasn't a problem at all. If you get a room at the back of the hotel you look onto waste ground but reception will change it over to a pool side view if you ask Maggie on reception.

But all the kids are given a chance to join in everything even the entertaintment on a night one night a week there do a disney show and all the kids get dressed up and reherse for it through out the day.

It a great feeling when you see your child on stage in from of holiday makers doing the entertainment.
