I was just wondering if anyone could give me any advice. My partner and i booked a hotel with alpharooms, for a last minute for a trip to benidorm. They confirmed the booking so then we proceeded to book our flights and transfers etc. The day after they sent us an email saying the hotel we booked was not available on the dates we had chosen, saying their system must not have updated quickly enough. They offered alternative accomodation and after asking the difference in prices they told us that the hotal we were being sent to was a dearer hotel but no increase in our price, happy days...... or so we thought.
We arrived in benidorm at 11am at our drop point and had to drag our cases at least half a mile up a hill to our hotel, they told us it was 600 yards away from the original hotel we booked, i'd say more like a mile and a half, anyway we got there and couldn't get through the front gates, the keys had to be picked up from another hotel which we knew and there was nobody on reception. When we finally got in after about an hour after waiting for somebody to come out. I got a taxi to the hotel on our email to pick the keys up and they wer not there so got a taxi back with no keys at a cost of 15euros.
It's now around 2pm and we try to ring alpharooms only to have to listen to music for 20 minutes every call, we called 4 times. So we decided to go and look for the original hotel along with our cases in 90 degrees heat and the same clothes we had on since the night before. 2 and a half hours later we still hadn't found it, it's a big place full of hotels and nobody seemed to know where it was. We rang back alpharooms and they finally answered, time about 4.30pm. After giving the lady a piece of my mind she said she would ring back within an hour and she did, telling us that our keys were at the original hotel we had booked at which we couldn't find so off i went again leaving the missus, who has back trouble and is very irate herself by this time, with the cases, to get the keys.
I finally found it and got the keys, i also asked the man on reception if the hotel was full and he told me it was not??.
We got in our apartment at 6pm and after having a shower, had a look around. Then we realised that this hotel was one we had looked at when looking to book which was only 200 pound a week on holidaylettings.com, we paid 314 pound for this and it's a residential apartment block, full of spanish and one or two holiday makers and a freezing cold pool so we rang alpharooms back and asked to be moved somewhere else. They said they couldn't do anything till tomorrow, it was sunday so fair enough.
They rang back 2 days later and told us we could move back to the original hotel at a cost of 100 pound, WTF???
They are an absoloute joke.... We were not expecting 5* accomodation or the Ritz or anything like that and we are not complainers but i think we have had the p**s taken right out of us by this company.
Thanks for taking time time to read this.
Once they have confirmed your 'order' with their suppliers, you then get a confirmation email. Until then, the accommodation hasn't been booked, confirmed or price agreed. If it isn't available, or the price has changed, they will email you with alternatives or you can request to cancel at that time. You chose to accept the alternative offered, I'm guessing without checking it out properly.
Maybe when they had managed to get you accommodated at your original property, it was through a different supplier, who still had rooms available, but was charging more? The hotel may not have been full on that day (to direct bookers, or suppliers that still had rooms on allocation), but it may have been full for some or all of the following days .Even if it wasn't, that doesn't mean the accommodation supplier could get any more rooms there at other than rack rates.
All you can do is write a complaint about the accommodation to AlphaRooms, and they will pass it on to their suppliers. Who was the supplier?
We went down to the offices in benidorm, i think they were called Fincas but we got no joy from them either. They just shrugged their shoulders as if to say "not our problem"
Hi and welcome to HT!
