Just come back from Amadores very nice place lots of places to eat down near the beach some do shut early though.the beach its self is very nice but its not ideal for kids in the sea due to a sharp drop and the tide seems to hit against this my daughter who is eleven got caught in this and it upset her.We used to walk into puerto rico some nights about 20-25mins walk then a taxi back for about 3.5 euros .we had a great time and i would go back to amadores (we stayed in Mirador del atlantico)

Thanks for that, it's the Mirador del Atlantico we will also be staying in. Any places in Playa Amadores you can recommend to eat at, as we will be self catering

Cheers

Hi raymondj40

The Mirador is very nice with great views (we may well go back next year)only thing it could have is AC but you can hire fans from reception for 3 euro per week the man doing the entertainment in the hotel (Gary) is very good and he is also from Scotland,Lots of sunbeds to go round and the chap who cleans round the pool wont let any one put them out befor he has done around 8.45am not like some hotels wher everybody is up at silly times to get a sunbed.TBH we didnt eat that much in Amadores although there was nothing wrong with it about three times i think but its very nice and all the resturants look out over the beach there are two british bars and then a good mix of others We did eat in the hotel one night it was a BBQ it was very good and you could go back as many times as you wanted it was about 10 euros and 5 for kids it was 3 course sorry cant be any more help but i am sure you will have a good time

I just got back from Amadores on Monday, can't recommend the resort highly enough.

We were staying in the Gran Amadores apartments, which are right next door to the Mirador. We went to the BBQ night there as well and it was fantastic, lots of choice and of course as much as you could eat. The breakfast buffet was brilliant as well, I was craving fresh fruit and they had tons of it.

There are lots of beach restaurants, the best by far was the Cafe Del Mar, which is the last one you come to as you walk along the strip heading to the walkway to Puerto Rico (it's not really a strip, but I can't think of how to describe it LOL) We ate there twice and the food was fantastic, service second to none, and live entertainment as well.

Also tried Ciao Ciao, really nice Pizza, I couldn't finish mine but I gave it a damn good try <g>

Titanic - nice breakfast, and a lovely cup of tea :)

Only place I didn't like was La Cabana... the service was shabby. They took ages to serve us, and we got the feeling they were delaying service because they wanted to keep bums on seats as long as possible, competition for customers is quite fierce, and the busier somewhere looks the more likely they are to attract diners. There were several occupied tables when we arrived. Two separate tables near us didn't get what they ordered (chips instead of canarian potatoes) and my BF ordered Coke and got fresh orange juice instead. I was really disappointed in my meal. I ordered peppered steak, with chips and veg. The sauce tasted like a packet mix. The veg was a frozen mix and very soggy (my pet hate) and it was served with a timbale of rice, which again was a frozen mix (like the oriental express stuff you get in the supermarket) - AND they overcharged on the bill also (7 euros for some non existing item) Not a good dining experience, and hence we didn't go back there again.

I meant to say, if you're going into Puerto Rico, the best place to eat we found was again Oscars. We were there 3 years ago and raved about it, and went twice this time round as well. They've opened a new place in the Pasarela shopping area at the Harbour. The new place is directly about the Hawaii Bar. Food is to die for.
