Hi. Have been trying to find this out myself, have put off booking until I know! Hopefully someone will be able to tell us. Also thinking about a Riu hotel, have been to the Tequilla in Mexico and loved it so thought we'd give DR a try but NOT in spring break, like our peace and quiet but then we are considerably older that you greek kitty!
I normally have my caribbean hols in March every year so spring break is always a consideration. It depends where you go really. I've never noticed much of a problem in the Dom Rep because its not a major spring break destination, unlike Cancun for example. It depends on the hotel you stay in and the country. I'd say you'll be ok in the Dom Rep. Spring breakers can ruin holidays though. I know they're only having fun and after all, they're on their hols as well, but the behavoir at times is beyond the barrier. I'm only 30 and can't be doing with it.
All I would advise is do your homework.
Darren
thanks for that, similar to what i have already heard, in the main. i have been lead to believe that cancun does tend to fill up with low rent paris hilton tribute acts and high school graduates reinacting American pie during spring break, although it does look like a very good destination for a bit of the carribean spirit away from the trappings of an all-inclusive bar, i quite fancy it in the near future (after the extra's from the O.C have had their week of fun and frolics though!!)
Quite an unusual situation in the UK in 2008, in that Easter is 21st to 24th March, yet the UK school holidays commence two weeks later with the kids breaking up on the 4th April.
