We are at home this year( well I am, OH goes away on the 29th). Last NYE we spent in Las Vegas. It was brilliant on the balcony of our hotel at midnight looking at all the fireworks over the Strip.
Anyone away this year?
Yes going away Xmas Eve and back New Year
Might book centre parcs for late January if there is any availability left, I know they used to run at virtually 100% capacity when we went four or five years on the trot, but maybe the recession has seen to that.
Quite nice to be in a forest location when it is all cold and frosty amongst the trees, and they seem to have a huge variety of accommodation nowadays.

where are you off to? somewhere with sun?
Nope, but going off to Bristol this weekend with hubby to visit son at College and do a bit of retail therapy, then off the the Lake District end of Feb for a few days.
At home here in Scotland for Christmas but then off to Derbyshire for a big family New Year gathering!
Dave & I are going to chester for a couple of days between chrimbo and new year.Never been before so will be nice to try somewhere new in the UK.
For the last 13 years we have been going to Goa it the only place we've found that we can afford at this time of the year as prices are really high. Here we can eat out every day breakfast, lunch and Dinner with a soft drinks during the day and probably a bit to much alcohol on an evening and still have enough change from £50 to buy our fags and odds and sods.
We are thinking about trying somewhere else next Xmas perhaps we may have to do without going away in the summer to pay for it but Goa does tick all out boxes at the moment.
Ditto Lyn .... we only have an 18 year old boy who always knows what he is getting before he even opens his present .. gone are the days, you got what you were given and were happy with what you received.
Went to Egypt between Christmas/new Year 2007 ... really disappointed! Hotel was a disppointment (apart from New years Eve) quite chilly in the evenings and temps weren't much better during the day .. and pools were freezing!!
I am away to Gran Canaria
Margaret(madmum)
Off to Egypt for Hogmanay, don't think they will be having such a big hootenanny to see in the bells as back here
I remember Hogmanay in my younger days back home only too well ..... doors were never locked, firstfooter had to turn up with a lump of coal otherwise my mother wouldn't let them in. A redhead first footing was a no go and we had pipers on the street ... happy days and I would add I'm not that old either LOL!
Re Hogmanay in Egypt .... best night of our holiday. They really fo to town!
We're home for Christmas but hoping to get away to the in-laws' place in the East Neuk of Fife for New Year and the first few days of 2013.
Home for Xmas and New Year..just how I like it with all my little family round for dinner...but I am thinking of a surprise couple of nights away in possibly Newcastle inbetween xmas and new year..just a little city break.
