I've done it. Depends what time of year you're looking. Not a good idea over Christmas period. We went in March and it was fine. These days there are also loads of places that can be booked direct on the internet and sometimes that's just as good. Depends how free you want to be.

Yep....done it also, quite a few times.
It's ok if you are just toting a backpack and solo, you can spend the first few hours looking for the right digs (£30/fortnight)
Wouln't do it while dragging excess baggage around ie, 2/3 cases and the missus (btw she's not included in the excess). If it's a bargain your are looking for, don't think you save much on places that are already advertised in brochures/internet.

I think some of the people who have replied have misunderstood the original question ( unless I have ) Do you mean he will be allocated his hotel when he arrives, which he has already paid for ? If so he could end up quite litterally anywhere, and I doubt he will be put up in one of the popular hotels. But then again you pays your money, you takes your chances. If there are any H/Ters out there that have booked this way it would be interesting to see were you ended up and if you were happy with the deal you got......Keith

Yea, right on Keith i misunderstood the Q.
Turned up plenty of times and gone looking for my own digs but never gone for the acc. on arrival. Not too bothered about the acc. you can always change easy enough, but would not take the chance on being based 30/40 mile from where you set your heart on, ie North/South or vice versa.

me too. Thought you were talking about finding your own accommodation on arrival.... No I never booked this way but like previous post have booked flight only and then found my own accommodation when I got there. Don't think I ever saw AOA advertised for Goa before.

I've seen "Accomodation Allocated on Arrival" deals with Somak for what they call Dormhouse Accomodation. Mainly aimed at backpackers it seems, but often the prices are less than some flight only deals.

November time is not that busy so he may be lucky and get a decent hotel in a decent location but hey ho he is going to be in Goa and if the hotel is that bad I'm sure he will be able to book in somewhere else for peanuts!
