We have booked here for first fortnight in July. Does anyone know just how well equipped they are ie: toaster, kettle, hairdryer. From what we have read in reviews, doesn't seem likely !!

Definately was a kettle and a toaster, can't remember if there was a hairdryer though. Rooms were clean and tidy but very small if there are more than two of you sharing. We found the food to be good and you can buy meal tickets when you get there to take meals on whichever day you choose. Entertainment not spectacular but fun for kids.
we are going there the first week in June, will let you know how we go on, it was recommended by a friend.
we have just returned from the orquidea we had a studio room for 3. The hotel was lovely and clean the food was good quality but a bit repetitive im sure the spanish think we eat nothing but chips !!!!!!!!! the room we has was a fair size but there was only two of us there was a toaster, fridge and a microwave grill combo, two hotplates but not much worktop space. we thought that prehaps because we were half board that perhaps we were given a different room with less in but when we used the courtesy room for half an hour which was bigger they didnt have a kettle either we did ask at reception but they said there werent any kettles!!! There is also a small supermarket in the hotel with the basic essentials in but a bigger one 2 mins up the road.
no kettles !!
how much were/are thye charging for hire of safety deposit boxes and the tvs ? and how small are the rooms !
thanks in advance.
Are you staying in a studio or a one bedroomed apartment ?
We stayed in a studio and it was cramped with 2 adults and a child but it wasn`t unbarable and I would go again. It was cramped for us because we had bought two new cases that were too big to fit under the bed so the were at the bottom and in the way. The wardrobes dont have that much room in them but we had a mix of clothes with iit being October, so you`ll probably only have sumer gear that won`t take up as much room.
We used a one bedroomed apartment to have a shower in on our last day and they were tons bigger.
I think last year the one on half board had the studios and the ones on self catering had the one bedroomed apartments.
What ever one you have ,you`ll have a great time, we did.
Self catering - 1 bed apt. family of 4.
The enertainment is really good all day and night, Kevin and Oscar who do the entertainment are brilliant, they set up a stage outside and the bars open so its lovely to sit out on a night.
The hotel is right on the beach front.
We were asked if we wanted to pay for a pool view and we declined but got one anyway.
The resort is lovely, its upmarket without being too posh. Theres a road that closes on a night thats full of restaraunts, they all looked lovely but we were on hb so didn`t chance to try them but we did try the chinese which was good and a spainishtapas bar round the corner which was excellent, can`t remember the name but you can sit outside. Theres lots of designer shops if you like shopping. We used the water taxi to go into Es cana for the day. We also hire a car from the hotel for the day and whent round the island. A good trip was the wally train for younger kids, t goes from the town hall.
We loved Santa Eulalia and the Orquidea and we will def go back as soon as we can.
Anything else you think of just ask.

Hi, I went with a party of 11 to the Orquidea last July and we are returning in July of this year. Can anyone who has been there in last month or so tell me if Kevin and Oscar are still the hotel reps that provide the entertainment? I read on a post that the Thomson/First Choice kids clubs are not running anymore, can anyone confirm this?
We were there the last week in October and the kids club reps were packing up the kids club room, one of the reps said when she came back to Ibiza in the summer she was going to Playa den Bossa. We spoke to Kevin on his last night and he said he was going to Thailand for the winter and returning to the Orquidea for the summer. I hope he does as hes a great entertainer. Were not going this year but hope to do so in the near future.
Out of interest also, do the apartments have a fridge ?! - no mention in the portland brochure
Thought hippy market was bit overcrowded and nothing being sold that you couldn't get elsewhere. Ibiza Town was excellent - geraed up for clubbers and families - definitely make the effort to visit the town.
2. Santa Eulalia - very cosmopolitan resort - clean and picturesque - ideal for couples and families - nothing for groups of young men/women. Would definitely visit again. Lots of restaurants/cafes etc and lovely harbour.
3. Orquidea - ideal location, very clean, friendly staff - only downside is its's a bit Butlins and the disco on an evening can be a pain in neck as the music is blasted out.
With the excption of 3 which I know nothing about I would agree totally with your assement.
Thanks for the review.
We are off to the Orquidea on 20 September. Hopefully won't be as busy then. What are the room sizes like, we have a studio apartment as there are only three of us.
Do you advise us to have a room round the back if the disco is noisy.
And any other info you feel we should know.
Thanks
krv
Our room was fine for size/facilities. Hotel itself is very clean and in ideal location.
Ibiza town - yes went on an evening - was excellent
no longer included for 2006 season..
First Choice still do it I think, thats who we are going with when we go there.
Cheers in advance
the property can be booked via eclipse direct, and first choice.
