Has anyone sailed on this ship? Just received a brochure with a super sounding trip to the North Cape, Fjords & Land of the Midnight Sun. The ship sails out of Tilbury but would like any information on the ship, etc. before making any serious decisions re booking.

I have had a look at where this ship has come from. She is the previously named Carosel owned by Airtours. Now sailing under the Louis Cruise flag.
She was I think either owned origionally by RCI or Norwegian Cruise line. Obviously she is an older ship but the Norwegian Fjords are spectaculor and the price suits your pocket then this would be a good choice. Just remember the fact that this would be a budget cruise and your expectations should be geared to this.

I have a copy of the 2007 Berlitz guide to cruising. The Arielle is given a score of 1084 from a maximum 2000 points. To give some context the Thomson ships, Island Star and Ocean Village all score around the low to mid 1300's. NCL gets into the mid 1400's, RCI the low 1500's and then the premium lines into the high 1500's and low 1600's, with Celebrity out on their own at the mid to high 1600's.

The guide states "Arielle is best suited to younger couples, singles, and young families used to package holidays and tight budgets. Good for a 1st cruise, in reasonably comfortable, but basic surroundings, with a fair array of facilities plus low cost food and entertainment."

I think the trip being sold is great value

Allthough there is currently little to go on when sailing as the Carousel the ship was fine.

For full price info. only one agent seems to be giving discounts on these prices that I have seen on TXT, Best at Cruises knock £5off. could be free child places as well if there are any 3/4berth left.

I think I would try the company direct and see if you can get a deal on one of the better cabins and get feel for the availability.

The other cheap early season deals are usualy Island Cruises which do drop to £299 including flights to plama, so in that context it is a bit more expensive. but the Norway coast is fantastic
