My better half and I are going to Kalkan at the end of July for 2 weeks and are staying at the Asfyia Hotel. Can anyone tell me what it is like and how far from the harbout it is please.
Also, I have been told to expect temperatures in the high 40's/low 50's at that time of year - is this correct? If so, think I will be donning a big floppy hat and sitting in the pool for the duration!!
Can anyone recommend some nice restaurants - my hubbie is a chicken/steak kind of guy, I love king prawns.

Hi Leigh and to HT, where I hope you will remain, despite immediately being guided elsewhere.
Asfiya now added
The Asfiya is just outside the town, about a 10 min walk straight down the road where there are some gorgeous restaurants! On the walk down there is one restaurant called something like the Apollo, but I can't remember exactly. It's a rooftop restaurant and probably the nicest we tried, their Turkish casseroles were amazing!
The staff at the hotel were nice when I was there but one was a little too friendly so just watch out, but if you've visited Turkey before you probably already know that! If you need some shade from the sun and heat (which will be scorching!) the Asfiya have these cute little alcoves with loads of cushions and small tables where you can have a nap or read a book etc. The only thing was, there wasn't really a proper beach. I think you could get a dolmus into the next town where the beach was a bit nicer. Just watch out for the sea urchins! As I remember our room was really nice too, the double bed was huge and we had a mini bar which, of course, was expensive!
I always remember this holiday as I had such a nice time, I can't praise it enough! One thing we found was a few of the other guests were quite snobby. There seemed to be a couple of people who thought they were royalty and didn't think twice about how they may be annoying other people. However, we recommended this hotel to friends who went the year after so I can say I think you will genuinely have a great time! Don't worry Hope this is helpful!
